Volunteers keep WDVX on the air! Volunteering also shows your support for community radio and all the quality programming WDVX offers. We are always looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help out with events, fund drives, and other activities listed below. If you are interested in volunteering contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteers@wdvx.com!
Here are a few ideas of how you can get involved.
Fund Drives
Volunteers answer phones, take pledges, help with data entry, and package thank-you gifts during and after the drive. Shifts are usually scheduled for 3-4 hours at a time.
Festivals / Events
WDVX puts on and is a sponsor of many area festivals, concerts, and fundraising events. Depending on the event, volunteers may be asked to set up, sell merchandise, help with a silent auction, staff ticket tables, clean up and more. Many of these events happen on the weekend.
Outreach
Volunteers help tell the WDVX story at festivals, concerts, and other community events like The WDVX Blue Plate Special, Kidstuff Live or Taps & Tunes. They hand out WDVX literature, encourage people to sign up for the WDVX E-newsletter, and tell people about the radio station’s unique place in East Tennessee culture. We also need fleet-footed folks to post flyers about WDVX live performances and events at cooperating businesses throughout downtown, the University of Tennessee area and other venues.
Live Performance Volunteers
Live shows like The WDVX Blue Plate Special, Kidstuff Live or Taps & Tunes, at WDVX are volunteer powered – everything from greeting guests to assisting the host to taking tickets is done by volunteers, WDVX’s best ambassadors. Volunteers are needed at least an hour before each show.
Special Skills
If you have a special skill you’d like to offer – social media, IT, PR & Marketing, data entry, volunteer coordinating, we’d love to hear from you! Email us at volunteers@wdvx.com.
