The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 10/22 — Libby Dale / Kelly and Sarah
October 22 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Libby Dale is the solo project of Libby Weitnauer – her “rippling Smoky Mountain voice” (WMOT) and GRAMMY-award winning fiddle playing have made Dale a fixture of Nashville’s Americana, indie, and country scenes. October 2, 2026, brought her highly anticipated full-length solo debut, Freehand. Made in three parts with producers Thomas Bryan Eaton, Will Johnson, and Andrija Tokic, the project was deftly woven together by GRAMMY-award winning mixing engineer Justin Francis. Freehand explores themes of love and self-forgiveness.
Raised in Maryville, Tennessee, Dale honed her point of view in Chicago and New York City before returning to the Southeast, moving to Nashville in 2020. A winding musical path has taken her through symphonies, fiddler’s conventions, the Grand Ole Opry, New York City’s Broadway theaters, and beyond. Since landing in Music City, Weitnauer has toured and performed with acts like Kelsey Waldon and Margo Price; and she co-founded the critically-acclaimed indie folk-rock collective Dallas Ugly, the primary outlet for her songwriting until now.
The release of Freehand marks Dale’s first venture into sketching out her own LP. Pedal steel, cascading vocal harmonies, and zippy orchestral strings intertwine with Weitnauer’s confident melodic sensibilities and unmistakable voice. Combining alt-country and folk pop influences, Freehand would feel right at home among “indie twang” Americana from the earliest days of the format. Weitnauer’s fantastic sonic dreamland might be pinpointed where the voices of Nanci Griffith and Iris DeMent meet the roots-adjacent genre agnosticism of Big Thief. Freehand is a mission statement. Libby Dale’s contemplations and existential ponderings, lift up all who listen – and encourage each of us to loosen our grips and let go.

Kelly and Sarah are twin sisters and country music musicians. They have been singing and performing since childhood, and both hold Bachelor’s degrees in Music with private training in both classical and contemporary voice. The Duo began their professional music careers in June 2022 and have continued to grow their presence in Nashville’s music scene. As songwriters and recording artists, their music draws from their small hometown Illinois culture with modern country influences.
If you visit Nashville, you are likely to encounter a performance by Kelly & Sarah, twin sisters known for their signature blend of rich harmonies and engaging stage presence. From performing popular covers in Nashville’s renowned honky-tonks to showcasing original music at festivals across the Midwest, the two-of-a-kind twin sisters provide a one-of-a-kind-show.
Kelly and Sarah have performed at iconic venues like The Grand Ole Opry Plaza (Nashville, TN), Manchester Music Hall (Lexington, KY), and 3rd and Lindsley (Nashville, TN). They have even appeared at MLB games to perform the National Anthem. Kelly and Sarah have been performed on bills with artists including The Creekers, Sawyer Brown, Phil Vassar, and Sundy Best.
Kelly and Sarah released the final piece of their 5 song project on June 15, 2026. Their song “Three Sheets to the Wind” reached #28 on Music Row Charts and received a Josie Music Award for “Social Impact Song on the Year” in 2026. Their newest single, “Cowboy on the Run” has been marked as “One to Watch” by NSAI. This is a highly selective honor, as only one out of thousands of submissions is chosen by NSAI song evaluators! This song paints a cinematic picture that you can follow visually with its official music video on YouTube. A strong-willed dame sees right through a smooth-talking cowboy’s games and is not afraid to challenge him.
