September 21, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Event Navigation
Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter Andy Sydow is a jack-of-all-trades. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who’s lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism, Sydow tours consistently both solo and with a backing band. Throughout the course of a show he’s known to croon an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, rip a slide guitar solo, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
In 2020, Andy made the most of his time off the road, releasing a three-song EP (Wicked Dreams EP) which garnered positive reviews from Post To Wire and Bandwagon Magazine. He and his team also created videos for all three songs, including a PG-13 viewing of “Still My Girl,” where Andy made the song come to life with 4,000 original stick figure drawings.
He released three other singles later in the year, “Hard Times Are Alright,” “My Friend” and “Piece of the Valley” as well as a cover medley of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” and “The Chain.” The hilarious cover art of the ladder is made up of Andy dressing as both Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks to imitate the distinguishable Rumours cover. He began 2021 by releasing another three-song EP, Time. Love. Everywhere.
It would be a vast understatement to say that Justin Mychals’ music is a journey to simpler times. His unique style, best described as Appalachian Mountain Soul, recounts stories like those of his Daddy and Granddaddy, runnin’ moonshine in the late 1920s, to avoid working the local mines. The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, bass) takes storytelling inspirations from long-time greats like Merle Haggard, Harry Chapin and Jim Croce.
Justin’s latest releases are, “Die With An Empty Gun’” and “Hallelujah Hill”, the first two singles from his next upcoming album that were released to rave reviews early in 2021. Both videos have garnered over 500k views on his Facebook and You Tube platforms. He has released three albums to date: Days of Thunder (1998,) Mandolin Morning (2014) and Lilac (2018.) All three albums were self-produced with Mandolin Morning being recorded at Justin’s former studio, Soundhouse Recording, while Lilac was recorded at Daywind Studios in Nashville. Days of Thunder was recorded at White Room Studios in Charlotte, North Carolina. Justin’s music can be heard on all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. It can also be purchased in digital form from his official website.
In 2003, Justin created the Justin Mychals Child Cancer Foundation, which aimed to help families of those battling cancer pay day-to-day expenses. The foundation raised more than $400,000 before Justin stepped away.
