Event Navigation
Doug Wilhite was born in the thick of Blues Country on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi in Helena, Arkansas. He learned to play guitar at age 12 and was writing songs by age 15. He was heavily influenced by Hank Williams, Steve Earle, Tom Petty and The Allman Brothers. In 2012 he signed a publishing deal with Simply Grand Music in Memphis. This led to Doug working with Dan Hodges Music in Nashville beginning in 2016. Doug’s song Steal A Heart that he wrote with Canadian artist Tenille Arts was released on her 2017 album Rebel Child which debuted at #2 on iTunes and won SCMA’s Album of The Year. The song has been streamed over 1 million times since its release. He has also written songs for the band Blue Honey, Rob Klerkx & The Secret, Cassidy Rae Gaiter, Tyler Barham, Lauren Mayell and Shane Sullivan. Doug performs solo acoustic shows around the Southeast concentrating on East Tennessee where he now resides. He has played such diverse venues as The Bluebird in Nashville, Red’s in Clarksdale Mississippi, and Captain Tony’s in Key West. Doug has played the famous King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena Arkansas on numerous occasions as well as playing live on the King Biscuit Time Radio Show on KFFA Radio. He has played the Blue Plate Special on WDVX in Knoxville, Tennessee multiple times. Doug will be releasing his first full length album Home No More in January of 2023. 2 singles from the album, Like It Was A Crown, and Long Way To Memphis were released in 2022.
Hailing from all corners of the country, Kind Hearted Strangers began in the foothills of Colorado – where an impromptu open mic performance by songwriter Marc Townes quickly evolved into something much bigger. With genre bending improvisations from lead guitarist Kevin Hinder and bassist/vocalist Ace Engfer, KHS has become a dynamic full band capable of bridging the gap between all out rock n’ roll and their harmony-driven acoustic roots.
The latest addition of Nashville drummer Eggy Gorman sees the band growing into a road-driven force, hungry for live music, delivering high-energy rock shows across the country.
