The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 1/10 – Megan Bee / Aaron Carter
January 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Singer-songwriter Megan Bee writes with an unquenchable wanderlust and a deep love for the land. Her 2022 album “Cottonwood” has been called “as real as it gets – a raw and real telling of engaging, relatable stories.” The track Never Known received an Honorable Mention in American Songwriter’s lyric contest.
Her previous album “Waiting” (2020) earned The Ark of Music album of the year. Bee has won The Ohio Music Awards Best Americana and Best Singer-Songwriter Albums along with a finalist spot in the USA Songwriting Competition.
Her music is a blend of distinctly homespun vocals, acoustic simplicity, yearning soulfulness, and winsome storytelling. Her background as an environmental educator, traveling farmhand, and vagabond once took her into a desert wilderness where she found her voice around a campfire. She bases out of the rolling hills of Athens, Ohio and draws influence from the collision of Appalachian folk and modern songwriting.
Aaron Carter is an unsigned award-winning country music artist from the small town of Rockwood located about 40 miles west of Knoxville in East Tennessee. After graduating high school he found a passion and career in Emergency Medical Services. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University then moved to North Carolina to aid a non-profit organization (Second Chance Global) with their mission work in Haiti. Aaron began writing music from an early age. Once he learned how to play guitar he discovered the role of singer/songwriter. This discovery led to a deeper love of songwriting. The pivotal moment happened in early 2021 while Aaron was visiting a friend in Tennessee. After co-writing a song over a few cold beers, he returned to North Carolina revisiting several unfinished songs. This was the moment Aaron decided to chase his dream of being a professional singer/songwriter!
In 2021 he reconnected with a long time friend and internationally touring singer/songwriter, Jeremy Neely; they began writing together and as iron sharpens iron, Aaron learned more about writing, playing and releasing music. Aaron’s first single ,”Hit Rewind” (released in December of 2021) took off with amazing response from streaming services as well as several radio stations around the world adding the song to their regular rotation. After the release of “Hit Rewind” the follow up single “This Town” become the first song to be picked up both domestically and internationally radio stations. He has been invited to radio station studios for interviews and live performances. In August 2022 he won his first award for his single “This Town” from the International Singer Songwriters Association. In early 2022 he begun live performances at local venues in North Carolina and has since expanded to Tennessee. Several notable acts that he has opened for include Kasey Tyndall, Walker Montgomery and Brandon Davis. His music is relatable too many different types of audiences. The songs have a modern country feel incorporating various aspects in the songwriting process. He is currently working with several other writers developing a large portfolio of music for an upcoming album project.
