SUMMARY:Benjamin Tod & Lost Dog Street Band — Mill & Mine — 10/25
DESCRIPTION:Tickets Here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrounded in a season of life that has been earned rather than borrowed\, Benjamin Tod speaks with the ease of someone no longer running from himself. There is joy now – a steadiness that comes from commitment. With the recent arrival of his son and a deep well of new music on the horizon\, Tod is firmly rooted in both purpose and possibility. That clarity is evident in Vengeance and Grace\, the frontman’s forthcoming and most expansive solo album to date. Conceived as a “dual-version” release\, the project presents two parallel worlds: (Alone) is a stripped solo-acoustic version\, along with its full band counterpart. Together\, the two versions form the full range of what Tod is capable of: restraint on one side\, force on the other. \nAt the core of Tod’s writing is a simple conviction: music should serve something larger than the moment. His writing speaks to mind\, body\, and soul\, shaped by faith\, discipline\, and a hard-earned understanding of consequence. The darkness that once defined him is neither denied nor indulged. It is understood and no longer in control. Today\, Tod moves with a sense of calm that wasn’t always there. He is grateful\, settled\, and intentional\, continuing to follow the compass that’s guided him from the beginning. Rooted in traditional country and folk\, his work stands firmly in the modern music landscape\, shaped by experience\, restraint\, and the life he’s built around it.

In 2024\, The Red Clay Strays signed to RCA Records and released their major label debut\, Made by These Moments\, that same year. Produced by Grammy winner Dave Cobb\, the album marked the band’s first entry on the Billboard 200 and debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart\, earning them their first Billboard Music Award for Top Country Duo/Group and the 2025 ACM Award for New Duo or Group of the Year. The Red Clay Strays also won the 2025 trophy for Vocal Group of the Year at the CMA Awards and took home the ACM Award for Group of the Year in 2026. Their third studio album Grateful\, released in June 2026\, was once again produced by Cobb and debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. In addition to performances at festivals like Lollapalooza and CMA Fest\, The Red Clay Strays have completed multiple headlining tours\, and sold out Madison Square Garden earlier this year. SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 10/29 — Muriel Anderson / The Arcadian Wild
DESCRIPTION:Muriel Anderson is renowned for her expertise on the 20-string harp-guitar\, yet it is her gentle sense of humor and uplifting melodies that leave her audience smiling. Guitar Player Magazine lists her as one of the 50 noteworthy guitarists of all time. She has been listed among the top ten female guitarists\, and is the first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. \nShe has recorded with country legend Chet Atkins\, performed with Les Paul and countless other greats in Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT® over 30+ years. Muriel’s CD Nightlight Daylight placed first in its category in 11 national awards\, followed by Acoustic Chef\, an international CD with cookbook. For her recent release Sailing Dreams\, she has created a board game to accompany the music. Her open-heartedness extends beyond her music\, as she founded the Music for Life Alliance to help foster music education for kids and donates a portion of Acoustic Chef sales to World Central Kitchen. \nMuriel Anderson takes you on a journey through many countries with her 20-string harp-guitar enhanced by a backdrop of visuals by Bryan Allen\, artfully projected onto a screen behind her. At many shows\, the audience is handed “guitar passport books” to request what countries they’d like to visit in the music and visuals. Her compositions capture the essence of authentic traditional music\, and she sings in up to 10 languages. You’ll travel with her on her sailing adventures\, and virtually (sometimes actually) taste the experiences that led to her release “Acoustic Chef.” If you’re not already familiar with Muriel\, you will find yourself smiling when you feel the joy of her music shining through a stunning array of styles. \n \nWelcome. It’s a word The Arcadian Wild hold dear\, an invitation to be present\, to let your guard down\, to share in something deep and divine and communal. \n“No matter who you are or where you come from\, that word just makes you breathe a little easier\,” says guitarist/singer Isaac Horn. “When you feel welcome somewhere\, you can be yourself\, you can be open to whatever the space and the moment have to offer. That’s how we want people to experience these songs.” \nWritten and recorded in The Arcadian Wild’s hometown of Nashville\, TN\, Welcome marks the start of a captivating new chapter for the genre-bending trio\, whose innovative use of vocal harmony and counterpoint has helped redefine the possibilities of modern string band music. Fresh off a series of critically acclaimed singles and EPs\, the album is both delicately beautiful and boldly adventurous\, drawing on everything from country and classical to pop and choral music with lush\, cinematic arrangements that balance the intellectual and the emotional in equal measure. \n“Harmony has been at the center of our musical experience and expression from the very beginning\,” says mandolinist/singer Lincoln Mick. “Often\, when we’re unsure of what to do next\, we’ll say\, ‘Let’s just all sing together.’ We’ve changed a lot as a band over the years\, but harmony has always been the backbone of what we do\, which has led us to create all thesebackground vocals that not only support the lead\, but have a life and character of their own.” \nThough the group tours and records without a drummer\, the songs here are deeply rooted in rhythmic propulsion\, with tracks driven by intricately interlocking instrumental and vocal parts that cohere into a deceptively effortless whole. \n“When we’re working on arrangements\, we actually try to treat our band like a drum set\,” explains Horn. “Who’s the kick? Who’s the snare? Who’s the crash? Everyone has a specific role that comes together intentionally to form something that should ultimately feel very natural and conversational.” \nLyrically\, the album functions in much the same way. There’s a rawness to the writing on Welcome that belies its careful craftsmanship\, a deliberate embrace of candor and simplicity that cuts straight to the heart of things like never before. The result is perhaps the most arresting collection yet from a band known for its ability to stop listeners dead in their tracks\, an exquisite celebration of community\, connection\, and the power of belonging that feels tailor-made for these challenging times. \n“For me\, the purpose of writing songs has always been to forge those connections\,” Mick reflects. “Any time we take the stage\, there’s a room full of people who all converged on that show from different backgrounds and with different stories\, and we want to make sure they all know they have a place there with us.” \nThat sense of hospitality has been central to The Arcadian Wild’s story from its earliest days. Named for a utopian landscape in Greek mythology\, the group got its start roughly a decade ago\, when Horn and Mick met as choir students at Nashville’s Lipscomb University. While both had grown up on alt-rock and punk\, they quickly bonded over a shared love for American roots music and the endless possibilities that lay beyond the boundaries of tradition and expectation. The band cut their teeth playing house shows\, where they learned to treat their audience like family\, and released their self-titled debut to widespread praise in 2015\, racking up nearly 50 million streams on Spotify alone. Heavy touring followed with what Horn and Mick have described as a revolving door of supporting players\, and the group returned in 2019 with a second full-length LP\, Finch In The Pantry\, which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart. In January 2020\, Horn and Mick welcomed fiddler Bailey Warren into the band full-time\, but when the pandemic forced the trio off the road shortly after\, they shifted their focus to composing and recording a multi-movement song cycle that resulted in the 2021 EP Principum\, which reached#3 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and helped earn the band performances everywhere from the Woody Guthrie Center to the Ryman Auditorium. \n“Having such a long break from touring gave me a chance to stretch myself as a writer and really chase down every single idea I had\, no matter how crazy it seemed\,” Horn reflects. “At the time\, the only people I had around me were my family and my closest friends\, the people who had been there for me from the very beginning\, and I think that started seeping into the songs whether I was aware of it or not.” \nWhile Horn embraced the chance to slow down\, Mick found himself itching to get back on the road\, and his writing often reflected his longing for the catharsis of the stage. \n“I found myself imagining what it would feel like to be in front of an audience again\, to have a room full of people singing along with us\,” he explains. “Once we got back on the road\, it really reinvigorated us to take on a bigger project like this and tackle the grander musical narrative that comes with a full-length album.” \nWorking with engineer Logan Matheny (Colony House\, Hiss Golden Messenger) and mixer Shani Gandhi (Sarah Jarosz\, Sierra Hull)\, the band approached the recording sessions for Welcome as live as possible\, embracing the organic feel of their concerts with the help of double bassist Erik Coveney (Sierra Hull\, Dave Barnes)\, who joined them on the studio floor. \n“We could have all gone in one at a time and tracked each instrument separately and made it all technically ‘perfect\,’” says Horn\, “but I don’t think that’s why people listen to us. They want to hear the human element\, the sound of people making music in a room together\, the energy you can only get from artists collaborating and feeding off of each other in real time.” \nThat collaborative energy is the heart and soul of Welcome\, which builds from a pensive meditation into an ecstatic fireworks display on buoyant opener “Lara.” Inspired by a friend who reached out seekingencouragement for their daughter\, the track is a soaring testament to believing in yourself and embracing the things that make you unique\, even when others may try to tear you down. “Lara\, don’t you let ‘em get your head down\,” Horn and Mick sing in airtight harmony. “You’re carrying the fire\, don’t forget now.” Such resilience and faith—both in yourself and in the people you love—is a recurring theme on the record. The dreamy “Big Sky\, MT” paints a portrait of a couple whose relationship nourishes themselves and their land\, while the delicate “Corner” celebrates the family figures—biological or chosen—who always have your back\, and the poignant “Shoulders” offers its thanks to the ones who lift us up and show us the way. \n“I was thinking about my dad when I wrote that song\,” says Mick\, “but ‘Shoulders’ is really an expression of gratitude for whoever fills that ‘father’ space in your life. Fred Rogers used to say that all of us have special people who have loved us into being\, and I think it’s worth honoring them.” \nFor all its hope and optimism\, Welcome wrestles with its fair share of struggle and doubt\, too. The punchy “Dopamine” confronts the insidious ways that smartphones and social media have hijacked our brains\, while the aching “Sparrow” contemplates how good intentions can lead to disastrous outcomes\, and the urgent “Fable Of The Times” reckons with a world in which everyone has isolated themselves in their own realities. Mick and Horn refuse to throw their hands up in defeat\, though\, even in the darkest of moments\, insisting that the antidote is and always has been the simple power of human connection. \n“After our shows\, we’ll meet these people who come from totally different worlds and likely wouldn’t agree on some pretty fundamental things\,” says Horn. “But for a couple hours\, they shared an experience together\, and we want our music to invite people to do that\, to be a little gentler with each other\, to see that they may have more in common than they realize and that the things that make them different are gifts. When you approach the world with an open heart like that\, anything’s possible.” \nIt’s a notion the band likes to remind their audience of every night when they take the stage\, step up to the microphone\, and say that magical word: Welcome.

SUMMARY:Bruce Cockburn w/ Livingston Taylor — Live at the Bijou — 11/2
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets Here! \nABOUT LIVINGSTON TAYLOR: \nLivingston Taylor’s career as a professional musician spans more than five decades\, encompassing performance\, songwriting\, recording\, and teaching. Often described as equal parts Mark Twain\, college professor\, and musical icon\, Livingston maintains an active touring schedule of over 100 shows a year\, delighting audiences with his wit\, warmth\, and an expansive repertoire drawn from more than 25 albums\, along with beloved classics. \nAs a songwriter\, Livingston has penned Top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor\, and over the years has shared the stage with artists such as Joni Mitchell\, Linda Ronstadt\, Fleetwood Mac\, and Jimmy Buffett. Equally at home across genres—folk\, pop\, classical\, gospel\, and jazz—his performances range from upbeat storytelling and intimate ballads to full orchestral concerts\, all delivered with his trademark ease and connection. \nFor over three decades\, alongside his performing career\, Livingston served as a full professor at Berklee College of Music\, where he created and taught the acclaimed course Stage Performance. His former students include Charlie Puth\, John Mayer\, Susan Tedeschi\, Molly Tuttle\, Liz Longley\, and Gavin DeGraw. Today\, Livingston takes this course “on the road\,” teaching at colleges and institutions nationwide\, including the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami\, NASA’s Goddard Space Center\, and Tulane Law School. His book\, Stage Performance\, drawn from the course and more than 50 years (5\,000+ hours) of real-world stage experience\, has become a go-to resource for performers and presenters seeking to elevate their craft from good to truly professional. \nAn airplane-flying\, motorcycle-riding\, singing storyteller\, Livingston Taylor continues to captivate audiences wherever he performs—whether solo\, with a band\, or in front of an orchestra—bringing heart\, humor\, and humanity to every stage. \nABOUT BRUCE COCKBURN: \nO Sun O Moon \n“Time takes its toll\, but in my soul I’m on a roll\,” Bruce Cockburn sings on his latest studio album\, O Sun O Moon. Smart and catchy\, it’s the kind of memorable line—like “gotta kick at the darkness ’til it bleeds daylight” from his classic song “Lovers in a Dangerous Time”—the world has become used to hearing from Cockburn. \nAn inspired poet and exceptional guitarist\, the award-winning artist has spent his entire career kicking at the darkness with songs that tackle topics from politics and human rights to the environment and spirituality. And he’s not letting up. While other singer-songwriters his age are slowing down\, Cockburn\, on the eve of his 78 th birthday\, has released a dozen new compositions as powerful as any he’s written. You could even say his songwriting is on a roll as well. \nExquisitely recorded in Nashville with his longtime producer\, Colin Linden\, O Sun O Moon exudes a newfound simplicity and clarity\, as Cockburn focuses on more spiritual than topical concerns this time around\, looking back and taking stock. “I think it’s a product of age to a certain extent\,” he explains\, “and seeing the approaching horizon.” Then\, lightening the tone\, he adds with a laugh: “I think these are exactly the kind of songs that an old guy writes.” \nOld or not\, Cockburn exhibits a palpable urgency on the opening “On a Roll\,” playing a driving resonator guitar with all the vigor of his veteran blues heroes. Similarly “To Keep the World We Know\,” one of the album’s few explicitly topical numbers\, bristles with Cockburn’s buzzing dulcimer as he and Inuk music star Susan Aglukark\, with whom he co-wrote the song\, sing about the growing threat of global warming. \nStill\, most of the songs strike gentler tones\, from the jazz sway of “Push Come to Shove” and the folky drone of “Into the Now” to the string-laden “Us All” and the hymn-like “Colin Went Down to the Water.” The latter\, one of several songs Cockburn wrote while on a month-long holiday with family on the Hawaiian island of Maui\, describes the drowning of a friend. “It’s not about Colin Linden\,” Cockburn is quick to point out\, “but someone I knew from San Francisco who’d \nmoved to Maui. It was tragic and quite surreal because I got a voicemail message from him when I was in Maui\, saying ‘Welcome to paradise\,’ and then found out afterward that he’d died.” \nSpeaking of surreal\, another song written while in Maui\, the whimsical “King of the Bolero\,” is unlike anything else on the album. Over a woozy clarinet and drunken\, New Orleans-style horns\, Cockburn paints a cartoon portrait of an oversized barroom musician “with a double chin all the way round his neck and a pot belly in the back.” Is it a dream or a figment of his imagination? In a gravelly voice\, Cockburn leaves us guessing as he sings “it’s moon high noon—I’m not in my Bed.” \n“The people I was with in Maui were quite perplexed when they heard that song\,” muses Cockburn. “After hearing the other things I’d written there\, they wondered ‘where did that come from?’ It really came from out of the blue. I remembered when I was in high school one of my friends made a crack about an old blues singer who used to come through who he said had a double chin in the back. It was a funny thing to hear at the time and it stayed with me. I didn’t want to make it specifically about a black blues guy\, so I mention Minnesota Fats and Fatty Arbuckle as well as Fats Domino and Fats Waller.” \nAs with so many Cockburn albums\, the musicianship on O Sun O Moon is superb. Along with usual suspects Linden on guitar\, Janice Powers on keyboards and Gary Craig on drums\, the album features bassist Viktor Krauss\, drummer Chris Brown\, accordionist Jeff Taylor\, violinist Jenny Scheinman and multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke. And Cockburn’s guest vocalists include Shawn Colvin\, Buddy Miller as well as mellifluous singers Allison Russell\, Sarah Jarosz and Ann and Regina McCrary\, daughters of gospel great Rev. Samuel McCrary\, one of the founders of the Fairfield Four. The McCrary sisters shine brightest on the title track\, whose full name is “O Sun By Day O Moon By Night.” They sing the euphoric chorus of the song which relates\, during spoken verses\, a dream Cockburn had in which he makes the journey to heaven. “In the dream\, which was really powerful\,” says Cockburn\, “I see myself silhouetted on a ridge with this jar of blood pouring it on the soil. It wasn’t scary or disturbing at all.” Cockburn adds that he wrote the line “and if that sun and moon don’t shine” in the spirit of songs from the folk ballad “Mockingbird” to the blues number “Bo Diddley.” \nThe album’s jazzy closer\, “When You Arrive\,” finds Cockburn confessing to feeling his age when he sings “You’re limping like a three-legged canine\, backbone creaking like a cheap shoe.” But it’s clearly a song of acceptance\, about eventually slipping one’s mortal coil\, as he’s joined on the chorus by all of his guest vocalists\, singing “bells will ring when you arrive.” \nO Sun O Moon includes just one song without vocals\, “Haiku\,” a four-minute showcase of Cockburn’s fleet-fingered guitar work\, where his previous studio recording\, 2019’s Crowing Ignites\, was a collection of all instrumental numbers. In between those albums\, Cockburn\, the Order of Canada recipient\, 13-time Juno Award winner and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee released a 50th anniversary box set\, greatest hits package and rarities collection. \nNever one to rest on his laurels—even when\, as he notes\, “time takes its toll\,” Cockburn keeps finding and conquering new challenges\, never repeating himself in the process. “I just don’t want to ever keep doing the same thing\,” he says. “I’m grateful that I can keep on doing anything at this point\,” he adds. “My body doesn’t hold up and perform the way it once did.” \nThat may be so. But the legendary musician has just made his 38th studio album. And it may stand as one of his best of his long and storied career.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 11/4 — Joelton Mayfield / Arlo Finch
DESCRIPTION:By the winter of 2021\, Joelton Mayfield had done nearly a decade of work to prepare his debut LP\, Crowd Pleaser. As a teenager\, he’d toiled for years as the music director of his Texas church\, despite extreme doubts about Christianity’s role in his life and his role in Christian life. He’d then shipped off to Nashville\, hoping to earn a music business degree in the city where they seem to be factory-made. He’d instead switched to English\, studied the more mature songwriters around him\, joined a series of college bands\, and drifted into the edges of the city’s indie rock and alt-country enclaves\, building a patchwork of players he trusted. \nAnd that February\, he’d driven two trailers and several carloads of gear to a farm near Alabama’s Mobile Bay\, turning the family barn of a bandmate friend into an ad hoc studio. He’d trucked a Hammond organ from Nashville and his grandmother’s century-old vibraphone from Texas\, even buying a stack of area rugs to absorb the sound bouncing from the barn’s concrete floors. And then\, just days before Mayfield was set to make his first full-length testimonial\, the love of his young life–and the person set to co-produce the album\, no less–dumped him. \nThe three weeks that followed were among the best and worst times of his life. Mayfield substituted a pack of cigarettes a day and too much booze for sleep\, teetering on the edge of a breakdown. He was moody\, distraught\, and distracted\, caught in a nightmare. But this was also his dream\, being surrounded by musical friends from Texas and Nashville in a barn-turned-studio that was more practical and interesting than he could have imagined\, singing songs about trauma and hypocrisy and pain and disappointment that had\, in a very real way\, already saved his life. \nSo Mayfield and a band that sometimes numbered nearly a dozen rendered these 10 songs with radical urgency\, the bummer feelings that had first led to them reanimated by sudden rejection. Mayfield clung to his own words\, like a life preserver or guardrail or any piece of art that simply reminds someone that this world can always change for worse but especially better. Indebted to traditions of incisive Southern storytellers and country-rock bands interested in upending their forms\, Crowd Pleaser squares up to the difficulties and betrayals of Mayfield’s first quarter-century and makes the absolute most of them–10 compelling affirmations for the rest of us. \nRaised outside of a small central Texas city\, surrounded by open farm fields and dirt roads\, Mayfield was a “miracle baby\,” the child his parents never truly expected after decades of trying. His family was religious and musical\, two disciplines forever intertwined in their lives\, both at home and at their Pentecostal church. As a kid\, Mayfield won awards in the Royal Rangers\, a conservative Boy Scouts alternative\, for his ability to recite Bible verses; as a teenager\, he began leading Wednesday night worship services for people much older than him and eventually even helming the church’s music ministry. Outside of oil-slick Contemporary Christian Music\, he heard only some classic country\, scant Texas blues\, and the Gaithers\, a family institution that was in turn a family favorite. There was no household internet\, and television was censored by a draconian device called TV Guardian. \nFissures slowly grew between Mayfield and the church\, Mayfield and family. He heard the words about treating people kindly but then saw how others who were not straight and white were handled by the so-called faithful. He felt exploited\, too\, his interest in and predisposition for music used as (largely) unpaid labor. These feelings coincided with his late discovery of songs beyond his faith. Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” exploded his idea of what a tune could accomplish\, as did a web of relatively outsider songwriters—Sufjan Stevens\, David Bazan\, Jeff Tweedy. He began writing for himself\, not only slowly finding his voice but a map of what he believed and rejected. He fled Texas for Tennessee\, intuitively knowing there was more to discover than his hometown cloister of culture. \nCrowd Pleaser documents the widening chasm between Mayfield\, the sheltered Texas kid\, and Mayfield\, the burgeoning songwriter indulging in all the music\, movies\, relationships\, books and conversations that came with leaving his sheltered early life. His sense of the bigotry\, misogyny\, and myopia he’d left behind sharpened\, too. These songs are a map of an unraveling and the concomitant reformation\, as he sorts through hypocrisies\, doubts\, and disappointments and does his best to make sense of them. Throughout Crowd Pleaser\, Mayfield returns to the line “God’s children never grow up.” It’s as if he’s finally admitting not only that he was cast out of the garden long ago but also that there may never have been a garden at all\, that you have to move along to find out. \nPenned in three sections\, the pulsing “Speechwriter” wades through the lies we slowly learn we’ve been living with\, from the way the government (no matter who has held power during the last 250 years) fronts about holding your best interests in its candid little capitalist heart to the promise of privilege that can still leave one rotten to the core. “How can I convince you anything I’ve ever felt is worth grieving?” he asks in one stinging line. That same unease permeates “The Shore\,” where everything we think we know and love seems only like a cover for a collapse that will happen any minute. “Is this the future we always dreamed of?” Mayfield sings\, his voice and the band behind him so calm and cool that they seem to be teasing us for the devastation we have yet to detect. \nThe woes\, mind you\, aren’t all so existential. If you hear some familiar lines in “Turpentine (You Know the One)\,” yes\, Mayfield borrowed bits from Wilco and the Mountain Goats on one of the oldest songs included here\, meant to illuminate both the perpetual failures of the music industry but also the miraculous way people keep making and sharing songs\, anyway\, because they remain so very powerful and potentially resonant. Wilco’s Late Greats failed\, as did the Mountain Goats’ Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton. Instead\, in Mayfield’s vision\, we get stuck with the bullshit band on Spirit 105.9 that is “everything you hate about everything you wish you liked.” And still\, we create. Cruelty comes in many forms\, including rock radio. \nMany of Crowd Pleaser’s songs scan as steadfast alt-country\, Mayfield digging into a bedrock of so-called Americana like a strata of sediment simply waiting to be discovered. As important\, though\, are the vivid signs here that he is part of a Gen Z cadre for whom Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born\, Pavement’s Slanted and Enchanted\, and Neil Young’s Harvest are part of the same firmament\, not aberrations in its architecture. \nYou can hear it immediately in opener “Red Beam\,” an apocalyptic vision of every new morning where the growing sound swallows you like a blazing Southern sunrise. Cut by noise and samples and built with a nonlinear structure that allows Mayfield to wrestle with the biggest questions of our existence without pretending to have tidy conclusions\, it is a theme song for stumbling into the unknown\, blinking hard\, and moving forward\, anyway. You can hear it in “Blame\,” too\, a chronicle of being let down and left out\, even when one’s desires are as simple as “a highway exit/a checkout before 11.” Sheets of drone radiate beneath the electric surges of the chorus\, while bits of dissonant strings circle the verses like the thoughts of a brain addled by its own overdrive. And what of the rumbles beneath and glows around “Jacob Dreamed a Staircase\,” a beautiful hymn about being deserted by faith\, where the sounds sigh and moan and growl like heavenly taunts? Crowd Pleaser is only the first full statement from a singer-songwriter invested in the future of his chosen field. \nIn 2024\, a year before Crowd Pleaser was even ready for release\, Mayfield opened several shows for two heroes–John Darnielle\, of the aforementioned Mountain Goats\, and John Moreland. Both have used songwriting to stare into personal voids\, to stand at the edge of some never-ending abyss and tell the truth about what they’ve seen down there. Mayfield is a new member of that tradition\, having put some of the most difficult lessons he’s learned in life to paper and then gathering his friends to help animate them\, to turn them into these songs meant to be shared like communion. “God’s children never grow up\,” goes that refrain. Yes\, some of them just grow into something unexpected: songwriters able to relay the good news that can exist in passing through the hardest of times and emerging on another side\, able to sing about it. \n \nArlo Finch is a popular American Singer Songwriter and entertainer. Americana Blue Grass / Folk&Roll.

SUMMARY:Tennessee Shines — Live at the Bijou — 11/4
DESCRIPTION:Tickets Here! \nTennessee Shines and WDVX’s 29th Birthday Bash: “The Future of Bluegrass is NOW!” \nWednesday\, November 4\, 2026\nDoors 6:00 PM | Show 7:00 PM\nThe Bijou Theatre\, Knoxville\, TN\nReserved Seating \nJoin us for a very special night as WDVX celebrates 29 years on the air with Tennessee Shines and WDVX’s 29th Birthday Bash\, featuring four of the hottest young acts in bluegrass today: Bronwyn\, Wyatt Ellis\, Carson Peters & Iron Mountain\, and Alex Leach and band. Alex Leach will emcee and kick off the night with three brand new songs\, backed by a full band. \nThis concert also kicks off WDVX’s Fall 2026 Fundraiser\, so don’t miss your chance to celebrate 29 years of WDVX while supporting the station for years to come! \nWant early access to tickets? Sign up for our newsletter\, Holler\, for a chance at pre-sell info before tickets go on sale to the public. \nBronwyn has long been renowned as a prolific instrumentalist\, earning two IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year awards as well as a Grammy for her work with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. \nAs a child\, music lessons gradually transitioned into public performances\, with a particular emphasis on Irish music after her family relocated to Charlottesville\, Virginia. And her lifelong musical education continues to shape her work today. A background in dance makes her a captivating and energetic live performer. An on-stage collaboration with fellow Charlottesville native Dave Matthews taught her how a crowd could feed your energy. And attending Berklee during the early years of its American Roots Music program offered inspiration from classmates like Sierra Hull and Alex Hargreaves—as well as an introduction to Tuttle and most of Bronwyn’s Golden Highway bandmates. “My favorite bluegrass musicians today are the ones who are rooted in traditional music\, but don’t really see any boundaries\,” she says. “It’s as if they draw from a traditional bluegrass vocabulary\, but use it to say what they want to say.” \nNow\, as her own entry in bluegrass history expands from celebrated instrumentalist to bandleader and frontwoman\, Bronwyn isn’t just crafting a career in the image of genre greats like Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas; she’s bringing them along for the ride. Both Bush and Douglas are featured as players on her latest album I Built a World\, and they’re not the only of Bronwyn’s musically-inclined pals and heroes to make an appearance. \nAt just 17\, Wyatt Ellis has already built a career that would be remarkable for an artist of any age. Born in Knoxville and raised at the southern end of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee\, Wyatt is emerging as one of country music’s most distinctive young voices. A virtuosic mandolin and guitar player\, expressive vocalist\, and prolific songwriter\, he brings the spirit of Appalachia into a fresh\, youthful sound. \nWyatt’s connection to the mountains is more than geographical. It is where his music comes from. Raised on a family farm in the foothills of the Smokies\, he grew up picking his mandolin with the natural beauty of Thunderhead Mountain and its Rocky Top summit visible from his front porch. Vinyl records filled the house\, and the sounds\, stories\, and traditions of East Tennessee became part of his everyday life. \nWyatt began composing Appalachian instrumentals as a child and picked up the mandolin at nine years old to learn to play “Rocky Top.” By 10\, he was performing regularly on David West’s Ciderville Farm and Home show. Guided by mentors Bobby Osborne and Paul Brewster\, Wyatt developed not only into a remarkable young instrumentalist\, but into an artist deeply connected to the music that shaped him. At age 13\, he made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry and the airwaves of WIVK. \nThat foundation has carried Wyatt from those early East Tennessee stages to some of the most important stages in American roots music. Playing original mountain music on the Grand Ole Opry and major festivals including the Crossroads Guitar Festival\, Newport Folk Festival\, and Big Ears at age 13. Backed by a powerhouse band of Appalachia’s finest\, his live show puts the focus on tight mountain harmonies\, high lonesome vocals\, and blistering instrumental work\, creating a sound that is steeped in tradition while remaining unmistakably his own. \nWyatt’s rapid rise has included chart topping originals from his debut instrumental album and becoming one of the youngest regular performers in Grand Ole Opry history. His work earned him the 2024 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year award and recognition on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 in 2026. Along the way\, he has shared music with and learned from artists who helped define American roots music\, including Bernie Leadon\, Peter Rowan\, and Marty Stuart. \nHis relationship with the late Bobby Osborne holds particular significance. Wyatt played the lead and harmony mandolin parts on Osborne’s final recording of “Rocky Top\,” while their co written instrumental “Fern Branch” was also featured on Osborne’s posthumous album. The recordings represent a remarkable passing of the torch between a legendary voice of Appalachia and a young musician carrying that tradition into the future. \nWith a debut vocal album of original songs on the way\, Wyatt is entering a new chapter\, bringing his Appalachian roots\, instrumental mastery\, and deeply personal songwriting to the forefront. At an age when most artists are just beginning to find their voice\, Wyatt Ellis is already helping shape what the next generation of authentic country music can sound like. \nCarson Peters and Iron Mountain has quickly become one of the most energetic and hottest bluegrass bands in the business\, making numerous trips to the Grand Ole Opry and multiple international appearances. Their traditional bluegrass style and a cappella arrangements are a refreshing reminder that the bluegrass of old is alive and well. The band is made up of Carson Peters (Piney Flats\, TN)\, James McDowell (Hendersonville\, NC)\, Taylor Parks (Bloxom\, VA)\, Henry Burgess (Edmond\, OK)\, and Jake Goforth (Troy\, NC). SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 11/5 — March To August
DESCRIPTION:March to August (M2A) is the Ozark Mountains-based Americana duo of Derrick and Jodi Mears. Blending Americana\, alt-country\, bluegrass\, and folk traditions\, the pair has built a reputation for vivid storytelling\, thoughtful songwriting\, and a remarkably full sound created by just two musicians. \nDerrick’s rich vocals are accompanied by banjo\, guitar\, and harmonica\, while Jodi anchors the music with bass\, stomp box percussion\, and lap steel\, creating dynamic arrangements that are both intimate and expansive. \nOn stage\, March to August draws audiences in with compelling stories\, quick-witted banter\, and the occasional delightfully random fact or piece of trivia unearthed during one of their many late-night research rabbit holes. Their performances feel as much like conversations as concerts\, leaving listeners entertained long after the final song. \nThe duo is known for crafting concept albums that weave individual songs into larger narratives. Their 2024 release\, Songs Inspired by Witness\, earned critical praise and debuted in the top 50 of the Alternative Country and Folk charts. \nTheir fourth studio album\, Highway 75\, released in May 2026\, is an immersive blend of prose and song that follows a long-haul truck driver searching for redemption along the interstate stretching from South Florida to the Canadian border. \nThe album debuted as one of the top 25 Folk albums\, one of the top 50 Alternative Country albums and was also considered an “Album To Watch” by the Euro Americana Charts\, further establishing the duo’s reputation for ambitious\, narrative-driven songwriting. Jeff Burger from Blogcritics.org described the album as… \n“Likely to be remembered as one of the best Folk/Americana releases of 2026” \nWhether performing in intimate listening rooms\, historic theaters\, or festival stages\, March to August connects with audiences through honest songs\, memorable stories\, and music that lingers long after the last note.

SUMMARY:Hayes Carll — Live at the Bijou — 11/5
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets Here! \nHayes Carll isn’t preaching or teaching. He’s not interested in telling the rest of use what to do or think. But he is charting out a personal guide for his life\, quieting the noise\, and sitting with his real voice – the one that’s candid\, consistent\, and often inconvenient. \nWe’re Only Human is Carll’s tenth album. Like his best lyrics\, it is also an understated masterpiece\, an honest snapshot of one man’s confrontation and delight with humanity’s biggest and most intimate questions. Where do we find forgiveness for ourselves and grace for others? How do we hold on to peace of mind and stay present? What can we—and should we––trust? And how can we moor ourselves to\, well\, ourselves\, in the midst of confusing\, trying times? We’re Only Human offers audiences the chance to listen to Carll as he listens to himself. \n“I’ve lived outside of myself for so long\,” Carll admits. “Distractions\, fear\, anxiety\, insecurity\, and the complexity of being human in this world have so often pulled me away from being present or at peace.” \n“I feel like there’s been a voice riding shotgun all my life\, pushing me to do better\, but I’ve struggled to listen to it\,” Carll says. “The idea behind this record was to do the personal work I needed to do\, then codify those lessons in song to serve as sort of breadcrumbs to get me back on the trail if\, and inevitably when\, I get lost again.” \nCarll is more than two decades into a celebrated career. Praise from places such as Pitchfork and the New York Times––the latter of which yoked Carll’s ability to tackle tough issues with wry humor to Bob Dylan––punctuate a resume that includes Americana Music Awards and a Grammy nomination. His songs aren’t safe\, but many of Nashville’s stars have recorded them\, including Kenny Chesney\, Lee Ann Womack\, and Brothers Osborne. As a solo recording artist\, Carll has long-since established himself as one of Americana’s most-played––and most loved––voices. His warm but crackling vocals\, wit\, and heart dance through wordplay that’s always clever\, and never too precious. Through it all\, whenever Carll points a finger\, it’s most often at himself. \nAs We’re Only Human collects moments of Carll figuring out how to be with himself\, the songs feel forthright\, hopeful\, and timely. In today’s onslaught of instant gratification\, rage-baiting headlines\, glorified intolerance\, and falling empathy\, the record is a startling outlier: an artist’s raw\, real-life effort to live well—both with himself and others. Carll embraces private epiphanies\, and shares them with the world\, allowing them to unfold for all to see and share. \nOf course\, We’re Only Human is also art. So while appreciating the motivation and compelling themes driving it will underpin the listener’s experience\, Carll’s album also matters because of the sheer brilliance of its execution. These are songs composed by a writer’s writer\, wielding his considerable skill with precision and beauty. \nThe album’s title track unfolds with plaintive piano and a mantle of grace. Carll sings\, with a calming sincerity\, “We’ll do most anything to avoid the pain / Hiding our hearts and casting the blame / 6\,000 tongues\, but we’re all the same / Ain’t no need to carry that shame / ‘Cause we’re only human.” \nHard-won minutes of quiet clarity inspired some of the record’s most beautiful moments. Accented by bright mandolin and soft\, simple percussion\, “Stay Here a While” captures a peaceful reprieve from a racing mind. “I remember sitting on the couch\, looking out the window\, watching the birds do their thing\,” Carll says with a laugh. “I got lost in their lives for a moment\, and it was such a wonderful feeling because my mind is always going in circles\, seeking excitement\, and frankly\, just thinking about myself. I enjoyed the peace I felt in that moment and I thought\, this is lovely and I’d like to stay in this place.” Carll shared that takeaway with MC Taylor\, aka Hiss Golden Messenger\, who not only could relate\, but helped finish the song. \n“High” offers another invitation to stop and breathe. Opening with a solo horn\, flute\, and stripped down piano\, the track is lovely and sincere\, with Carll’s signature humor hovering comfortably nearby. There are also times when Carll’s sharp wit comes roaring to the foreground. “Progress of Man (Bitcoin and Cattle)” sends up society’s disorienting––and conflicting––forces\, while “Good People (Thank Me)” is a masterclass in comedic timing\, stubborn humanism\, and the untapped potential of gratitude. \nA dogged insistence on acceptance\, both of one’s self and others\, courses through the album— as does Carll’s determination to hold himself accountable. “If I’m judging others\, then I’m not having to look at myself\,” Carll says. “I’m flawed as hell\, judgmental\, and critical of myself and those around me. That’s a loop that feeds itself. But I figure If I can look at myself clear-eyed and acknowledge my own shortcomings\, it might help me have some grace and acceptance for myself and others.” \nIt’s that sort of harmonious duality––embracing one’s self and confessing one’s own mistakes––that solidifies the record’s big-hearted honesty. “The creative process was in large part a self-therapy session. I don’t think that would work if I was only looking at everyone else’s issues\,” Carll says. \nA moving series of grounding vignettes\, realizations\, and self-love roll through “What I Will Be\,” as Carll promises to not compromise himself to fit in. A slow-burning\, blues-tinged standout\, “I Got Away with It” is painful and gorgeous. Brimming with hope\, “One Day” balances the work Carll sees as necessary with the certainty that satisfaction\, contentment\, and peace are reachable by trusting in yourself and the universe. \nFeaturing a parade of Carll’s longtime friends\, album closer “May I Never” is a plea to himself. As Ray Wylie Hubbard\, Shovels & Rope\, Darrell Scott\, Nicole Atkins\, and The Band of Heathens’ Gordy Quist and Ed Jurdi each take verses\, listeners are swept up in a resolute promise to keep after good. “It brings up a lot for me when I hear them singing those lines\,” Carll says. Each of those people – whether they know it or not – have played a part in my story\, and it’s gratifying and humbling to me to have them lend their voices to this song.” \nIn the end\, Carll’s latest album is a lovingly and purposefully written collection of reminders. “I hope other people find something in it\, too” Carll says. “Through it all\, I am trying to stay appreciative\, knowing that I did what I set out to do: write something that can help me navigate this journey with a little more grace and peace.”

SUMMARY:First Friday Live — 11/6 — Cheap Souvenirs
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 6 / 6:00 – 7:00 PMKnoxville Visitors CenterHosted by Daniel Fluitt\nFREE!\nJoin us for our next First Friday Live presenting Cheap Souvenirs!\nCheap Souvenirs formed from the serendipitous reunion of two longtime friends\, Josh Hutson and Kevin Hyfantis\, who after years of pursuing separate projects\, found themselves nerding out on music documentaries and reminiscing about their shared love of The Rolling Stones and The Band. They had been immersed in different musical worlds and hadn’t played guitars together in over a decade but when they finally did\, the sparks flew\, and they wrote their first song almost immediately. As new tracks began to accumulate\, they brought in close friends and collaborators Lauryl Brisson and Stirling Walsh to complete the lineup. The band released their debut self-titled EP in April of 2026. Multi Instrumentalist Greg Adkins later joined on keys adding a new dimension to the band’s sound. Cheap Souvenirs’ sound walks a fine line between classic rock and infectious pop\, driven by raw energy and strong hooks that have become their signature.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 11/7 — Mary Bragg / The Mendenhall Sisters
DESCRIPTION:Every great song is essentially a secret told to a stranger. \nAnd when the truth is clear\, the stranger recognizes themselves in it. \nMary Bragg understands this very well. She describes the title Secrets to Strangers as a “zoomed-out representation” of her latest release – a collection of deeply personal stories offered to the outside world. Whether those conversations happen in therapy\, from a stage\, or between strangers at an airport bar\, they’re all attempts to bridge the distance between people. \n“All these spaces are invitations to share a truth for the sake of connecting your own experience to another human being’s\,” Bragg says. \nAcross twelve songs\, she does just that – approaching memory\, longing and self-acceptance with grace and lyrical finesse. The dreamy pop of opener “Kid Flamingo” whisks that narrative back to youth\, with softness and empathy (“Wasn’t it hard enough the first time?”). The radio-ready “Hi-Fi” leans into its modern pop groove\, while wrestling with questions of self-deception. “It’s about listening to what the world is trying to tell you\, and honoring your own inner voice\,” Bragg says. “What Do I Do” is a stirring rumination on uncertainty\, and a duet with co-producer John Paul White. “It was such a thrill to sing with someone as incredibly talented as John\,” Bragg says. The vocal fireworks on “Champion Sleeper” explore deep soul connections while “B-Side” yearns for weightless nostalgia. The bossa-tinged “I Like It Here” embraces the messiness of life\, and “The Game” is a heart-wrenching dive into how we sometimes have to wear different faces to navigate interpersonal webs. \nWhile Bragg co-wrote most of the album (among her notable collaborators are Maia Sharp\, Mindy Smith and Brady Stablein of Brother Elsey)\, the gorgeous\, meditative title track was hers alone. As she sings\, “Sometimes you have to say the thing out loud and hear yourself say it\,” that could double as an encapsulation for how the album offers itself as an inviting sonic shoulder to lean on. \n“So much of this record is about giving yourself permission to enter a day and not have the answers to all your problems\,” Bragg says. “But at least saying\, ‘These are my problems.’ Being real with yourself about how hard this life is\, because a million things get thrown at you and you don’t always know what to do about them.” \nBragg has been creating memorable music from that very human place for years. Over five albums\, she has quietly become one of Americana’s most admired artists. World Cafe praised her “refined\, sumptuously melancholy take on southern storytelling.” NPR called her breakout 2017 release Lucky Strike “one the year’s best\,” for how it “subtly refined the folk-country singer-songwriter template\,” while Rolling Stone hailed 2019’s Violets as Camouflage for its“mix of classic country twang and gentle chamber-pop.” \nBragg says she approached this record intending to swing for the fences. \n“I definitely wanted to aim higher in a no-holds-barred kind of way- creatively just putting all your cards on the table\,” she says. “I saw it as entering a sonic playground\, seeing how much I could uncover with other creative minds.” \nThat meant handing off production duties. In 2022\, Bragg earned a Master of Arts in Songwriting and Production from Berklee NYC\, after producing and engineering organically became a part of her work in 2016. Since then\, she’s produced a couple dozen records for other artists\, including The Accidentals\, Grace Pettis\, and Jackson Emmer in addition to her own most recent releases. \nShe says\, “Part of the reason I didn’t want to produce this record is I wanted to expand what the songs could become in a way that was newly open to possibility.” \nAs she cast her net for potential producers\, the search led her two hours southwest of Nashville\, to Muscle Shoals\, where Ben Tanner and John Paul White were waiting with open ears. Some of her initial attraction to that Alabama town was practical – The Shoals Music Makers Program offers a rebate to artists of up to 30% back on their budgets if they record there. “That felt like a magnetic invitation\,” Bragg says. \nBut the deeper draw was her admiration for Tanner and White’s sensitive production work (The Secret Sisters\, Lera Lynn). What she didn’t anticipate was how quickly they’d come to feel like family. \n“First\, being in the Shoals felt like home to me\,” Bragg says. “My hometown Swainsboro\, Georgia- topographically and culturally feels like Muscle Shoals. But I’ll attribute the feeling largely to Ben and John\, because we are around the same age and were raised by the same kinds of people\, in the same kinds of towns – cut from the same cloth. When we started recording\, none of us knew how joyful it would become\, not only musically but personally. They’re both song-first people\, which was a huge part of why I wanted to work with them. And from day one\, they provided the kind of creative safety net and belief in possibility that you always want when you’re in the studio.”\n“Working with Mary is a producer’s dream\,” White says. “She’s a total pro\, works hard\, hits her marks. Sings beautifully – and like no other. This is one of my favorite projects I’ve had the pleasure and honor to produce – and no small part of that is how much I adore her as a person.” Tanner adds\, “Mary has incredible command of her voice\, both as a singer and a writer. She also carried a completely open\, collaborative attitude\, which made the process joyful and emotionally fulfilling from top to bottom.” \nWhite and Tanner assembled a dream team of players – drummer Chad Gamble (Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit)\, bassist Zac Cockrell (Alabama Shakes) and guitarist/keyboardist Jay Gonzalez (Drive-By Truckers). Basic tracks were cut at the legendary FAME Studios. Recording where Aretha Franklin and Etta James once stood energized Bragg. “There’s this kind of glorious blanket in there that sort of surrounds each person\,” she says. “You feel it when you walk in- an incredible vibe. That also makes you want to kill it. You really want to earn your keep. Like\, ‘Yes\, I belong here. These songs belong here. My voice belongs here.’” \nThe rich variety of music made in FAME – from R & B to rock to reggae – was freeing\, too. While Bragg appreciates that she was once dubbed an “Americana Queen\,” this record moves beyond easy categorization. The album stretches Americana to include indie rock\, pop\, early ’80s radio vibes and southern soul. “It’s geographically neutral\,” Bragg says. “I like that it’s not trying to satisfy the bounds of one genre.” \nBragg is thrilled to share this new chapter in her recording journey\, and hopes it might be the first of many with Tanner and White in Muscle Shoals. “Getting out of Nashville was really a nice feeling\,” she says\, “even for simple reasons like not being as concerned with whether it’s time for dinner and time to go home. Everyone on the project’s willingness to keep going\, every single day we worked together\, was astounding. I have never had that kind of experience making a record.” \n“And John’s still trying to get me to buy a house down there\,” Bragg adds with a smile. “I had to tell him to stop sending me Zillow links. I told him\, ‘If we have a hit record\, I’ll buy a house in Muscle Shoals.’” \nWhen asked what she hopes that listeners get from her latest\, Bragg returns to the theme of connection and secrets to strangers. “I hope that people who hear the record will immediately feel called to honor their own voices\,” she says\, “to hear their own joy and pain\, and say\, ‘Yeah\, that’s me too.’ And especially\, to find your tribe. That may be a little cliché- it’s more to find the people who will hold space for you in this life for exactly who you are.” \n \nThe Mendenhall Sisters are a progressive bluegrass duo crafting original instrumental music that blends tradition with a fresh\, innovative approach as well as putting a unique spin on timeless favorites. Originally from Boston\, Massachusetts\, they are now based in East Tennessee\, where they continue to develop a distinctive acoustic sound. \nYears of playing together have given them a musical connection that lets each piece unfold naturally. Their compositions are full of intricate melodies\, subtle surprises\, and dynamic interplay\, resulting in performances that feel effortless\, lively\, and full of small\, captivating moments.

SUMMARY:Kitchen Dwellers and Dogs in a Pile — Mill & Mine — 11/8
DESCRIPTION:Tickets Here! \n\n\n\n\nKitchen Dwellers\nBluegrass \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKitchen Dwellers continue to carve out their own lane in the world of progressive roots music\, blending bluegrass\, folk\, and psychedelic grit into a sound as expansive as their Montana home. The Bozeman-born quartet of Shawn Swain (mandolin)\, Torrin Daniels (banjo)\, Joe Funk (upright bass)\, and Max Davies (acoustic guitar) has grown from regional upstarts into one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking bands in modern string music. Their catalog pairs instrumental virtuosity with emotional storytelling\, an exploratory spirit\, and a deep connection to the American West. \nIn 2024\, Kitchen Dwellers released their latest full-length studio album\, Seven Devils\, which arrived on March 1 and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart. The record expanded the band’s creative reach and reinforced their place at the forefront of progressive roots and bluegrass. The band’s newest release\, The Katabatic EP\, highlights another side of their creative arc. Recorded in late November 2021 at Mighty Fine Studios in Denver and Peach Street Studios in\nBozeman\, the three-song EP captures a vivid snapshot of wintertime inspiration in Montana. Rooted in sweeping landscapes and natural contrasts\, the EP blends mythic lyricism\, atmospheric instrumental interplay\, and a progressive blend of bluegrass\, folk\, and americana that has become the group’s signature. The song “Madison” tells the story of a mystified angler on the Madison River\, drawing parallels between love and the unpredictable rhythms of fishing. The instrumentals “Mimas and Ida” and “Katabatic” broaden the sonic palette with guest trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce\, whose brass textures add lift\, spark\, and momentum. Shifting grooves\, evolving tempos\, and evocative melodies evoke mountain valleys\, windswept terrain\, and orbiting moons. The EP was produced by Kitchen Dwellers\, mixed by Stephan Gueguen and Max Davies\, and mastered by Stephan Gueguen. Kitchen Dwellers have continued to earn national attention through consistent touring\, acclaimed studio work\, and an expanding grassroots following. Their studio album discography includes Ghost in the Bottle (2017)\, Muir Maid (2019)\, Wise River (2022)\, and Seven Devils (2024). Collectively\, these releases have amassed more than 15 million streams across platforms\, with recent NOCO releases accounting for more than 8 million. Their vibrant live show has taken them to major festivals and iconic stages across the country. The band has performed at Bonnaroo Music Festival\, Telluride Bluegrass\, Under The Big Sky\, WinterWonderGrass\, Northwest String Summit\, and more. They have also achieved career milestones by headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre and headlining the historic Ryman\nAuditorium in Nashville. Along the way\, Kitchen Dwellers have received praise from outlets such as Bluegrass Today\,\nHuffington Post\, Relix\, American Songwriter\, and additional national publications. Kitchen Dwellers continue to evolve while staying rooted in the landscapes and creative curiosity that shaped them. With Seven Devils marking a major milestone and\nThe Katabatic EP offering a distilled burst of artistic expression\, the band remains committed to pushing the\nboundaries of modern bluegrass and exploring new musical terrain. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDogs In A Pile\nJam Bands \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSomething organic has been blooming from Asbury Park\, New Jersey\, and is now making its way around the world. Dogs In A Pile\, a band of five twenty somethings with old souls and limitless chops\, is waking people up to the timeless and ineffable joys of psychedelic-tinged jazz-funk rock n’ roll. \nThis is one of the busiest touring bands of today\, averaging 130 live shows per year since 2022. The road has become their creative engine\, generating a rapidly growing catalog of original tunes. Distroid\, the band’s newest album\, is a 10-song collection featuring long-awaited studio versions of some of the Dogs’ most beloved repertoire. \nDogs In A Pile is guitarist Jimmy Law\, guitarist Brian Murray\, keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan\, bassist Sam Lucid\, and drummer Joe Babick. In addition\, the Dogs In A Pile community includes the Dog Pound\, the group’s extended family of fans across the country. \nBesides being a lyric from the Grateful Dead song\, “He’s Gone\,” the name “Dogs In A Pile” is an apt description of the five-piece band’s stylistic breadth. The sonic image it conjures is a heap of storyteller Americana\, bluegrass\, jazz improvisation\, eccentric instrumental excursions\, pop-rock sophistication\, and deep-pocket grooves\, ranging from funk to Latin to reggae and beyond. \nDistroid features material that has already become staples of the band’s live show. These studio renditions have afforded the group a chance to present the compositions just how they envision them. Distroid offers a cross-section of the Dogs In A Pile essence\, tight and tuneful four-minute funk and jazz informed psych-rock songs\, and then sprawling 15-minute compositions with intricate unison lines\, agile genre-jumping\, and dazzling improvisation.

SUMMARY:Eddie 9V — Live at the Bijou — 11/11
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets Here! \nEddie 9V has an endless stockpile of cool stories – and you’ll find twelve of them on his most recent studio album Saratoga\, released in November 2024 on the fabled Ruf Records label. A thrilling mix of Southern soul\, blues\, rock\, and funk\, Saratoga proved to be a gamechanger: a road trip-ready record filled with razor-sharp observations\, vintage textures\, and raw humanity. It also marked a major career milestone: Eddie 9V’s soulful sound began reaching hundreds of thousands of new fans across the globe. Now signed to Easy Eye Sound — the Nashville-based label founded by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys — Eddie 9V is preparing to release a brand-new album in 2026. And the momentum keeps growing. \nSince Saratoga dropped\, Eddie’s monthly listeners on Spotify have exploded from 8\,000 to peaking at over 800\,000.. Songs like “Halo\,” “Saratoga” and “Love Moves Slow” have become SiriusXM Spectrum-certified tracks\, gaining steady spins and major audience love. \nBut this rise is years in the making. From the day he first slung a guitar on a local Georgia stage\, Eddie 9V (born Brooks Mason) has been an artist to watch. First cutting his teeth in cover bands and regional blues circuits\, he made the leap to full-time frontman with a name that couldn’t be ignored. “I wanted to start from scratch – and I ain’t never heard of no bluesman named Eddie 9V.” \nThat leap paid off. His early albums Left My Soul In Memphis (2019) and Little Black Flies (2021) turned heads for their wild energy and vintage flair. 2022's Capricorn was a breakout moment\, earning rave reviews from Classic Rock\, The Guardian\, and more. It debuted at #1 on the blues charts before being dethroned by Bonnie Raitt — “a cool story to be able to say\,” Eddie laughs. \nBy the time Saratoga arrived\, Eddie 9V had evolved into a full-spectrum songwriter\, tapping into deep wells of soul and storytelling alongside his brother and longtime collaborator Lane Kelly. Much of the album was recorded at their Echo Deco Studio in Atlanta\, with some sessions at Denver’s Crown Lanes Studio. From the disco-tinged horns of the title track to the fuzzed-out dreamscape of “Delta\,” it’s a record that widened the lens without losing the grit. \nNow with a major label partner\, national tours\, SiriusXM airplay\, and streaming growth that shows no signs of slowing\, Eddie 9V is poised for the next chapter. A new album is on the horizon. The band is sharper than ever. And if Saratoga was the ignition\, what's coming next is the open highway. “I’m already writing new songs\,” he says. “You never stop.”
