SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 5/28 — Aaron McGlone / Shane Weisman
DESCRIPTION:Aaron McGlone is a Kentucky-born singer-songwriter whose music bridges the sacred and the honky-tonk\, delivering raw\, heartfelt Americana steeped in tradition. Raised in the pews of Lower Grassy Church of Christ\, Aaron’s musical journey began with gospel harmonies and the soulful storytelling of country music. Hailing from Lexington\, KY\, Aaron has become a fixture in the regional music scene\, performing across Kentucky and neighboring states. His original compositions\, such as “Angels in a Honky Tonk\,” showcase his ability to blend spiritual themes with the grit of everyday life\, resonating with audiences seeking authenticity in music. Aaron’s performances are characterized by his rich vocals and acoustic guitar work\, creating an intimate atmosphere that captivates listeners. Whether performing solo or collaborating with other artists\, he brings a depth of emotion and sincerity to the stage that reflects his roots and personal experiences. In addition to his live performances\, Aaron has been featured on platforms like Bourbon Trail Radio\, further expanding his reach and connecting with a broader audience. His dedication to his craft and his community has solidified his reputation as a genuine voice in the Americana and country music scenes. \n \n  \nSinger\, songwriter + multi-instrumentalist Shane Weisman returns with “The Optimist\,” a timeless\, rootsy new single arriving today. With its nostalgic 70s flair —equal parts Rod Stewart swagger and Tom Petty soul — the track delivers both sonic nostalgia and emotional depth\, serving as a key piece of his forthcoming concept album Better Luck Tomorrow\, out in early 2026 via Too Fine Records. \nNarratively\, “The Optimist” paints a cinematic portrait of a nameless man in New York City who calls himself “The Optimist.” From his apartment\, he tells the story of his two neighbors: Sonny\, a college dropout chasing a dream in the city\, and Slingshot Sue\, a faded one-hit Broadway star still grasping at the echoes of fame. Through his eyes\, the song becomes a mirror for resilience\, struggle\, and the quiet hope that carries us forward. \n“My record Better Luck Tomorrow is very much about self-discovery and rebuilding after everything falls apart\,” Weisman says. “But this song — told through The Optimist’s perspective — is that voice of reason we all need sometimes. I wrote it to remind myself that it’s all gonna be okay.” \nMusically\, “The Optimist” is a masterclass in understated grandeur — highlighted by an epic guitar solo in the bridge that locks perfectly in step with a wistful harmonica line\, creating a moment that feels both nostalgic and transcendent. It’s the kind of song that could have poured out of a smoke-filled studio in 1975 — raw\, real\, and crafted with care. \nThe single previews Weisman’s upcoming full-length project\, Better Luck Tomorrow — an album he produced entirely himself. Describing the record as “about everything falling apart — and what comes after\,” Weisman set out to create a body of work that honors the integrity of true album-making. \n“My goal is to give my audience an album that’s actually crafted by the artist\,” he goes on to say.. “I didn’t sit in a room with five people trying to screw in a lightbulb. I want to revive real albums created by real artists. Let’s be real — would we buy a Picasso if he said\, ‘Hey\, this is a painting I made with a few of my friends’? Absolutely not.” \nIn addition to his own work\, Weisman has produced for other artists – including Gabe Baker’s award-winning Twelve Out Of Ten – but Better Luck Tomorrow is the sound of him fully stepping into his own voice. Real\, poetic\, and unafraid\, it’s the kind of record built to resonate long after the last note fades.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/1 — Zach Bellas / Soul-R Fusion
DESCRIPTION:Zach Bellas is the name of the band. And they truly are a band. A three-piece national touring alternative rock powerhouse with a catalog of incredible music and an undeniably brilliant live show. \nSlightly psychedelic and punk adjacent\, their sound is a delicious mirepoix of the great rock bands of the past. Strong 70’s and early 90’s classic rock influences can be felt throughout mixed with blues\, reggae\, country\, jazz\, and a variety of latin music influences – all marry together to make a distinctly unique\, but also instantly familiar experience that fans adore. \nWhile originally rooted in the Washington\, DC area and now located in Wilmington\, North Carolina\, the band really took shape during their formative years in Baltimore\, Maryland. With Tom McAteer on drums\, Kyle Hadley on bass and backing vocals\, and Zach Bellas on lead vocals and guitar – the band had an unfortunate start. \nAfter spending the better part of 2019 recording two albums at the same time and planning two full nationwide tours totaling almost 200 shows\, the band was forced on hiatus by the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020. Over the next couple years\, the group slowly eked out a few singles\, a short ep\, and scrapped together tours with whatever venues were able to open at the time. \nAs things opened back up\, the band went back into full force. They released a full-length album called No Questions No Answers to great acclaim followed by their greatest work to date – a single named ‘One More Show’ – to immensely positive response from both fans and in the press\, which was immediately followed by another winner\, the hit song ‘Congratulations’ \nNow back in a very solid rhythm\, 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest year ever for the band. They have a new full-length album in the works that they are recording in Wilmington\, NC and performing live as much as possible. \n \nSoul-R Fusion is an acoustic guitar and fretless bass songwriter duo that will draw you in and take you on a  mystic musical journey. \nTim Koehler (acoustic guitar / vocals) and Alex Goodell (fretless bass) are both originally from New Jersey\, but met by chance in Wilmington\, North Carolina in 2015.  When they collaborated things really clicked\, and they developed an original sound by blending diverse musical influences and unique approaches to their instruments and to songwriting. \nTim began playing guitar in his early teens and is largely self-taught.  He was the lead guitarist and frontperson for several New Jersey based bands.  Then\, with a switch from electric to acoustic\, Tim went solo\, playing acoustic guitar in the Red Bank\, NJ music scene and occasionally dipping into the crowded Greenwich Village folk scene.  After several relocations\, he ended up in Wilmington\, NC\, where he frequented open-mics and gigged as a solo singer-songwriter. \nTim’s “superpower” has always been his ability to get to the emotional center of a song.  His thoughtfully crafted lyrics relate stories\, experiences\, and emotions that he brings to life with his rich\, soulful vocals. \nAlex played classical violin throughout her childhood.  She started playing bass as a teenager and is a graduate of the bass guitar program at Musicians Institute in California.  She has played with a variety of bands on the east and west coasts\, performing a range of genres including rock power trio\, Elvis tribute\, county-rock\, funk-soul\, surf\, retro-instrumental mash-up\, and jam band. \nAlex’s melodic bass playing highlights the magical qualities of the fretless bass. \nThis complementary combination led to the formation of Soul-R Fusion\, and the duo became partners in music and life. \nSoul-R Fusion features the interplay between Tim’s intelligent\, heartfelt lyrics\, and Alex’s ethereal fretless basslines. Their songs are optimistic reflections on life.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/3 — Millie Rochelle / Brian Elder
DESCRIPTION:At just sixteen\, Millie Rochelle is an East Tennessee singer-songwriter blending Americana and indie pop with haunting vocals and honest\, emotional storytelling. Drawing inspiration from Appalachian roots and modern indie influences\, her music captures the quiet intensity of love\, heartbreak\, and self-discovery. \nWith a voice that feels both delicate and powerful\, Millie writes songs that are deeply personal yet universally relatable. Her storytelling-driven approach and stripped-back arrangements allow emotion to take center stage\, creating music that feels intimate\, reflective\, and timeless. As an emerging artist\, Millie continues to carve out her own sound—one rooted in authenticity\, vulnerability\, and a love for meaningful songwriting. \n \nBrian Elder is a recording artist\, songwriter\, and worship leader who lived out the message written in Joshua 1:9\, by saying “yes” when God asked him to move several states away in a moment’s notice to follow a call to ministry. \nRaised in Virginia\, Brian grew up with a love for music. While he gained experience performing and opening for several bands including Brett Michaels and Papa Roach\, he felt something was missing. After several years in the industry\, he decided to give music up for good. He packed up his guitar\, and began working in film. God\, however\, had different plans. \nIn 2019\, When Elder began to battle depression and anxiety\, he cried out to God begging for purpose. God led him back to his guitar. With a new faith-fueled passion\, Elder began writing songs of worship\, drawing from his experience and the power of God’s presence in his life. \nOpportunities opened for Brian to perform in various locations from coffee shops\, churches\, and a prison ministry tour\, to large stages in front of thousands\, in addition to leading worship. Robert McTurnal\, the Lead Pastor-BridgePoint Church is quoted as saying\, Brian’s music “cuts through the distracting noise of the world and brings his audience to a place of reverent introspection.”

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/4 — Oliver Sayani / Andrew Sa
DESCRIPTION:Pedal steel-drenched country waltzes\, honky tonk and backwoods blues; 27 year old Americana singer-songwriter Oliver Sayani paints raw pictures with original song influenced by life in the Appalachian mountains and his rambling ways. \n \nAndrew Sa’s earliest music memories are of sitting in cars. Crammed together with his siblings in the cab of his father’s ‘86 Ford F150 listening to the Eagles\, Reba McEntire\, and top-40 country hits\, driving around Fremont\, California. At home\, occasionally\, his dad would slide his old Gibson Les Paul out from under the bed\, a secret relic from a past life as a touring musician\, and play for them while they sang. Years later\, after Sa’s mother remarried and started her own karaoke company\, Sa suddenly found himself ushered onto stages as a 10-year-old and encouraged to warm up the crowd\, a few hits already tucked under his belt. “For some reason I always picked the sad Patsy Cline songs\,” an early sign of Sa’s penchant for aching country ballads that would eventually find its way onto American Rough\, Sa’s debut album out on June 26 via Bloodshot Records. \nWhile the spark was lit as a child\, it took Sa some time to return to the call of classic country. His musical interests shifted to jazz as he became enthralled with the voices of Ella Fitzgerald\, Frank Sinatra\, Billie Holiday\, and Nat King Cole – influences that continue to ring through his musicianship today. This was also an important moment in Sa’s life for his discovery of musicians like Rufus Wainwright\, k.d. lang\, and Elton John – openly queer musicians whose outspokenness felt like a doorway to a life of queer performance that Sa hadn’t seen or been able to envision before.  “When I was a teenager\, a friend gave me a copy of Rufus Wainwright’s Poses\,” he recalls. “And for me it was a revelation. The romance\, the beauty\, the longing\, the raw emotion – it’s so authentic. He gave me permission to dream.” A new future opened up. \nA natural-born and intuitive performer\, Sa went on to spend some time pursuing acting and theater in the Bay area before a short stint in Portland\, Oregon. It was the alluring prospect of furthering his songwriting education through a class at the Old Town School of Folk Music that finally brought Sa to Chicago’s shore\, and blew open the door to a new relationship to folk and country music. In the years that followed\, Sa hit the ground running\, stepping into a new spotlight. Between 2013 and 2016\, Sa performed regularly at queer-focused acoustic showcases and met the collaborators that would come to shape his musical career in Chicago for the years to come: Liam Kazar and Sully Davis. It was Davis who first invited Sa to open for the legendary queer country band Lavender Country at The Hideout and also tapped him for the brilliantly campy music revue Cosmic Country Showcase\, started by Davis and Dorian Gehring in 2018. It was largely through Cosmic Country that Sa became a sought-after voice in Chicago’s independent music scene\, enveloping audiences with his signature\, siren-like croon and delectable charm.

Have some fun with The ORNL Summer Sessions! \nThe Rounder Records debut from Amythyst Kiah\, Wary + Strange marks the glorious collision of two vastly different worlds: the iconoclastic alt-rock that first sparked her musical passion\, and the roots/old-time-music scene where she’s found breakout success in recent years\, including recognition from Rolling Stone as “one of Americana’s great up-and-coming secrets.” Along with tapping into the vibrant musicality she honed in part through her studies in East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass\, Old Time\, Country Music program\, the Chattanooga-bred singer/songwriter expands on the uncompromising artistry she’s displayed as a member of Our Native Daughters—an all-women-of-color supergroup whose Kiah-penned standout “Black Myself” earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best American Roots Song and won Song of the Year at the Folk Alliance International Awards. \nCheap Souvenirs is a Knoxville\, Tennessee based Rock n Roll band!Kevin Hyfantis – Vocals/GuitarJosh Hutson – GuitarLauryl Brisson – DrumsStirling Walsh – Bass

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/11 — Cody Bolden / India Ramey
DESCRIPTION:Cody Bolden is bringin’ us country music you’ll likely listen to. \n \nAfter the success of her fiery 2024 LP\, Baptized By The Blaze\, Nashville outlaw siren India Ramey is back with Villain Era\, out now\, via Copaco Recordds/Blue Élan. Baptized By The Blaze was the story of Ramey’s journey through the fire\, a harrowing passage toward healing and empowerment. Villain Era is firmly rooted in her own reckoning; it doesn’t ask for permission\, it kicks the door wide open. \n“This album is the ‘healed’ me\,” Ramey says. “I didn’t know how to have boundaries because I was such a people pleaser. When you live your life that way\, you lose sight of who you really are. I’ve spent the last few years finding my authentic self\, reclaiming my identity. The title track\, ‘Welcome To My Villain Era\,’ is me saying I’m not going to suffer fools anymore. I’m not compromising anymore. If my boundaries offend you\, I’ll happily play the villain in that story.” \nArmed with that conviction and a new batch of songs\, Ramey left the South for the first time to record in Los Angeles with two-time Grammy-nominated producer Eric Corne. Together\, they built a soundscape as cinematic as it is cathartic. Ramey\, whose fans have taken to calling her “The Woman In Black” and “the Wednesday Addams of country music\,” told Corne she wanted the album to sound like Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn had risen from the grave to score a Quentin Tarantino film. Corne assembled a powerhouse band to help her pull it off\, including Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings) on bass\, Eugene Edwards (Dwight Yoakam) and Chris Masterson (Steve Earle\, The Mastersons\, The Wallflowers) on guitar\, Eleanor Whitmore (Steve Earle & The Dukes\, The Mastersons) on fiddle\, Kevin Brown on drums\, Boo Bernstein (Emmylou Harris\, Dwight Yoakam) on pedal steel\, and Haley Spence Brown (The Doohickeys) on backing vocals. \n“He didn’t just listen to me\, he heard me\,” Ramey says of Corne. “The musicians were equally respectful of what my vision was\, and they went above and beyond. It was the most collaborative\, emboldening recording experience I’ve ever had.” \nThe result is Villain Era: ten spaghetti western–meets–honky tonk vignettes\, penned solely by Ramey\, laced with grit\, gallows humor\, and emotional precision.  \nWith the first notes of opener “We Ride at Dawn\,” Ramey puts her boots on the ground and reclaims her territory. A callback to “King of the Ashes” from her 2020 LP Shallow Graves\, the song rises from the rubble with reverb\, ghostly pedal steel\, and the promise of revenge from the women who survived. On “Scattered and Smothered\,” Ramey trades the battlefield for a Waffle House booth at 2 a.m.\, where heartbreak meets hangover in a haze of regret. “Well I’m a hot mess\, I must confess / Ever since he brought up takin’ next steps / And my drunk ass needs some hash browns and scrambled eggs\,” she sings\, As patrons fight\, chairs fly\, and late-night shenanigans ensue in the background\, our heroine is lost in thought\, hoping the grease soaks up the memories of the night she’s attempting to put in her rearview.  \nThe tone turns bittersweet on “Crying in My Lingerie\,” a deceptively upbeat breakup song that captures the loneliness of a woman who’s realizing her marriage is over. Doing her best to fan the flames of something long since gone\, she drowns her sorrows in boxed wine. Dressed in the now-meaningless symbols of desire and devotion\, she realizes she’s become a divorcee in waiting.  \nThroughout Villain Era\, Ramey explores what it means to step fully into oneself after years of just trying to survive. “There’s a lot of freedom in knowing yourself\,” she says. “It makes you feral. But in these times\, joy is resistance. We should be having some fun\, too.”  \nSaving Country Music once wrote\, “Many of the women in country music these days love to sing about lighting stuff on fire to symbolically tease their empowerment. With India Ramey\, you think she’ll actually haul off and do it.” It’s an apt description for an artist who doesn’t just tell stories of strength\, she lives them out loud. \nWith six studio albums under her belt\, Ramey continues to be one of country music’s fiercest truth-tellers. Her 2017 breakout Snake Handler landed her on Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.” Her 2020 “post-apocalyptic western” album\, Shallow Graves\, earned international recognition\, debuting at #6 on the Euro Americana Chart. Then came 2024’s Baptized By The Blaze\, a searing chronicle of her battle with a dependence on prescribed medication and PTSD stemming from childhood trauma. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes\, she sang on the title track\, “Yesterday I set myself on fire / With my own hands I built that funeral pyre / I built it so high the flames touched the sky / And now I am alive because I died.” \nNow\, with Villain Era\, India Ramey stands unapologetically in her power\, delivering songs that cut deep and laugh loudly\, songs that balance the weight of lived experience with the freedom of release.

SUMMARY:Paul Thorn Presented by WDVX — Live at the Bijou — 6/11
DESCRIPTION:Get tickets here! \n“Life Is Just A Vapor”\nWhen it comes to songwriting\, less is more\, and simplicity is strength. Just ask Paul Thorn\, who’s spent three decades turning soulful grooves and small syllables into songs that pack a big wallop. Maybe he learned the power of minimalism from his years as a pro boxer; maybe it just comes naturally. But whether he’s targeting heads\, hearts\, hips or the occasional funny bone\, he somehow manages to condense large nuggets of wisdom into tight little mantras\, the kind embroiderers stitched onto pillows before internet memes existed. \nThorn’s new album\, Life is Just A Vapor\, contains some beauties: “Life is a vapor\, let’s live it while we can”; “tough times don’t last\, but tough people do” (from “Tough Times Don’t Last”); “any mountain up ahead is just a hill” (from “Old Melodies”). They’re words of advice\, comfort\, support\, encouragement\, often meant to uplift\, especially in times of struggle. \n“I like for people to be touched by music and get something from it\, something that they can take with them throughout the day\,” Thorn says. “Every song on this album\, there’s a message in it of some sort about how to live life.” \nAmerican Blues Scene writer Don Wilcock calls Thorn “an everyman (who) addresses things we all think about\, but few can articulate with the kind of candor\, humor and folksy truth that immediately endear him to almost everyone lucky enough to hear his music.”

SUMMARY:The WDVX Big Plate — 6/12 — Ettore Buzzini
DESCRIPTION:When you think about bluegrass music\, you don’t think about grand emotional and spiritual journeys that pierce your soul; yet that is exactly what Swiss-American songwriting and banjo prodigy Ettore Buzzini is creating with his innovative\, classical-infused but deeply traditional bluegrass music. Imagine Earl Scruggs had been influenced by Led Zeppelin and Chopin and you’ll get an idea of Ettore’s sound. \nEttore(pronounced like “Letter-A”) has a decidedly youthful take on traditional bluegrass\, rooted in tradition\, but with an innovative\, distinctive picking style\, and a unique gift of songwriting . To the casual listener\, Ettore’s sound is simply hard-driving bluegrass. But anyone who listens a little more closely will quickly notice that Ettore’s unique music weaves together the iconic acoustic sounds of bluegrass\, the youthful energy and hard drive of pop-rock\, and the emotional journeys of classical romantic music. \nHis unique\, fresh style is a product of his roots on both sides. He was imbued with the classical tradition while living with his family in Italian-speaking Switzerland\, as a toddler. At age 6\, his East Tennessee grandfather introduced him to Flatt & Scruggs\, and he was hit by bluegrass like a lightning bolt. He begged his parents for a banjo for nearly 3 years until\, at age 9\, they relented. Ettore’s love for banjo expanded as he devoured the traditional bluegrass classics\, while also becoming enthralled by the power of classical music\, inspired by his Swiss grandparents’ sacred choir. Ettore made a name for himself at youth competitions in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his prodigious banjo picking style as well as his mastery of flatpicking guitar. He then cemented his reputation as a prodigy when\, at just 11 years old\, he won the Kruger Brothers’ Young Songwriter’s Contest\, with an original banjo and lyrical composition about the Norse mythology of Ragnarok. By age 14\, he had released his first album\, after being approached by legendary bluegrass record label Patuxent Records. \nEttore has collaborated and performed with bluegrass legends Pete Wernick\, Danny Paisley\, Mark Schatz\, Patrick MacAvinue\, Christopher Henry\, and many others. He has been featured at celebrated festivals such as Merlefest and FloydFest\, PBS’s Woodsongs\, and more. At age 16\, competing against industry professionals\, he won the prestigious Fresh Grass Competition with his original composition\, “The Birth of Eros”\, a hard-driving banjo instrumental with a classical romantic theme of a lost soul’s hope of redemption and love. \nEttore’s young star is soaring in the bluegrass scene\, where his unique\, virtuosic sound is garnering Between his prodigious musical talent\, unique songwriting\, and an infectious love of the music\, he may just succeed in turning GenAlpha into GenBlue.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/17 — Nief Norf
DESCRIPTION:NIEF-NORF IS A COMMUNITY OF CURIOUS LISTENERS\, ADVENTUROUS ARTISTS\, AND INNOVATIVE SCHOLARS. \nNief-Norf envisions a world in which adventurous music thrives\, artists are empowered to explore bold ideas\, and communities connect through sound. Nief-Norf’s mission is fostering the advancement of innovative chamber music through the collaboration of performers\, composers\, and scholars within immersive educational and artistic environments. \nWHAT DOES “NIEF-NORF” MEAN?\n“The term ‘nief-norf’ came from some older graduate students who call any experimental or strange music ‘nief-norf.’ It’s meant as onomatopoeia for strange sounds\, like ‘bleep-blop.’ Andy and I bonded over the fact that we secretly loved the music that these grad students were deriding. Although nief-norf was born as a derogatory term\, we flipped it and created a group that specializes in this kind of experimental music.” – Kerry O’Brien\, Nief-Norf Co-Founder

SUMMARY:WDVX Summer Nights - 6/17 - Redd & The Paper Flowers / Ettore Buzzini
DESCRIPTION:WDVX Summer Nights\nWednesday\, June 17\, 2026 | Doors 6:00 PM | Show 7:00 PM\nYee-Haw Brewing\, Knoxville\, TN\nFREE | All Ages \nWDVX is proud to present another night of free live music on the big stage at Yee-Haw Brewing for the 2026 Summer Nights concert series! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRedd & The Paper Flowers’s origin begins in 2021 when Redd Daugherty met Gavin Gregg at Carolina Ale House in Knoxville\, TN. Former bassist\, Will Ross\, invited Gavin to play a set\, and since then\, Redd and Gavin have been inseparable.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKatie Adams and Colleen d’Alelio were first introduced to Redd and Gavin at the Open Chord Open Mic in Knoxville\, TN\, as they were building community in a new city. They completed their bachelors at Ithaca University and moved to Knoxville during Katie’s master’s degree completion at The University of Tennessee. \nThe group hit a rough patch in February of 2023 after the tragic murder of Redd’s dear friend\, Jason Cooper\, by his roommate. Coop left Rush’s Music\, a local band instrument rental store that services 90 schools and roughly 3\,000 students\, to Redd without her knowledge. Redd began working at Rush’s in 2011 through her bachelor’s and master’s degrees before ultimately quitting to teach high school English at L&N STEM Academy–a local\, public magnet school in Knoxville. It was at Rush’s Music where she met and befriended Coop\, and they remained dear friends until his untimely death. \nTheir debut album\, Appalachian Bell Jar\, which they began tracking in January of 2023\, was put on hold–as well as touring–until Redd could address the needs of Rush’s Music and the greater\, Knoxville music community\, which relied on Rush’s. \nMembers Katie and Gavin were able to quit their previous jobs to help at the music store. Redd credits Katie\, Colleen\, and Gavin for giving her direction\, meaning\, and purpose during an intense time of grief and overwhelm\, and they credit this tragedy in strengthening their bond as a band and group of best friends. \nAfter so much change and loss\, it became very clear to the band that each other and their music was the most important priority. \nTheir debut album\, Appalachian Bell Jar\, released on May 12th 2025.  \nOthers have described Redd & The Paper Flowers’ music as Appalachian Jazz\, Appalachian Folk\, and Folk-grass.  \nWhile they truly enjoy all of those genre descriptors\, the band self identifies as “Living Room Folk.” Their superpower is the energy and joy each band mate pulls from playing music together\, and those feelings are often transferred to sweet listeners–making them feel cozy\, as if they were receiving a concert in their living room.  \nThe band is currently in the studio for their sophomore album\, Dead Little Thing\, that highlights the struggles of 2023 – 2024\, which will release in the fall of 2026. \nThe group is based in Redd’s hometown of Knoxville\, TN. \n\nWhen you think about bluegrass music\, you don’t think about grand emotional and spiritual journeys that pierce your soul; yet that is exactly what Swiss-American songwriting and banjo prodigy Ettore Buzzini is creating with his innovative\, classical-infused but deeply traditional bluegrass music. \n  \nThanks to our sponsors: Yee-Haw Brewing\, ORNL Federal Credit Union\, and Garza Law. \n

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special — 6/18 — Eric Hagen / Ben Torbett
DESCRIPTION:Eric Hagen’s music is a heartfelt ode to the timeless dance between joy and sorrow wrapped in the faded splendor of a bygone era. His performances are like vintage postcards\, each one a snapshot of a wistful journey through a land where the echoes of heartache linger in the dusty corners of forgotten jukeboxes. \nMake Country Sad Again is Eric Hagen leaning into the kind of country music that values songwriting over image and honesty over polish. Rooted in classic honky-tonk\, country rock\, and Americana\, the album mixes sharp storytelling with a worn-in sound built around pedal steel\, telecasters\, and live-room energy. The songs focus on flawed people\, complicated relationships\, small-town restlessness\, and the tension between tradition and modern country culture. Rather than chasing trends\, Make Country Sad Again feels grounded in the spirit of the records that inspired it — direct\, human\, and unafraid to sit with uncomfortable emotions. \n \nBen Torbett will perform as well!
