SUMMARY:The Blue Plate Special – 3/12 – Hunter Gatherer & Austin Skalecki / Jennifer Alvarado
DESCRIPTION:Hunter Gatherer is “a musical nomad\, unable to rest his head on one genre\, crossing borderlines between sunny americana\, grassy indie-folk and alt-country.” Joined by troubadour and fellow songwriter Austin Skalecki\, they have over 6 albums to their name\, and accompany one another\, sharing both the spotlight and sideman duties. They’re storytellers and gifted pickers in our own rite\, and also back each other on steel guitar and mandolin. \n  \nJennifer Alvarado is redefining what it means to be a country artist in today’s music scene. With a sound that fuses the heartfelt storytelling of 90s country with the raw\, unfiltered honesty of alternative rock\, her music has been described as “Deana Carter meets Alanis Morissette.” But Jennifer isn’t just another artist blending genres—she’s a truth-teller\, a fighter\, and a voice for those who have ever felt out of place. Her songs are unflinchingly personal\, yet universally relatable\, tackling love\, loss\, trauma\, and redemption with a fearless honesty that sets her apart. \nBorn and raised in Hickory\, North Carolina\, Alvarado’s love for music was sparked at the age of four when her grandfather first placed a guitar in her hands. Growing up\, she found her voice singing in church and school performances\, but a devastating loss and relentless bullying in middle school silenced her for years. While others saw her talent\, she struggled with crippling performance anxiety\, choosing instead to write in secret. It wasn’t until her mid-teens\, when she picked up the guitar again and began leading worship\, that she slowly reclaimed her confidence. \nAlvarado’s path to music wasn’t a straight shot. Despite earning a music scholarship\, she ultimately pursued a degree in Political Science and Family Ministries\, preparing for a future in law and ministry. She worked as an Intellectual Property Paralegal\, led worship at two churches\, and taught guitar and ukulele on the side. But music never stopped calling. In 2020\, facing a crossroads\, she decided to take a chance — submitting her music to Indie Star Radio. The response was immediate and overwhelming\, leading to her being named Country Artist of the Year in 2021. From that moment\, there was no turning back. \nSince then\, Jennifer has become one of the most relentless independent artists in country music\, performing over 200 shows a year across the country. She’s played legendary venues like The Viper Room\, intimate clubs on the California coast\, and countless stages across NC\, TN\, GA\, VA\, SC\, CT\, KY\, and TX. Her goal? To play all 50 states and bring her music to international audiences. While she’s been told she’s “not redneck enough” for country music and “too old” to chase a dream\, she refuses to let the industry define her. Instead\, she writes and sings on her own terms\, creating music that resonates with those searching for something deeper than another whiskey-soaked party anthem. \nBeyond the music\, Jennifer is deeply passionate about using her platform to make a difference. She is actively involved in Celebrate Recovery\, prison ministry\, and organizations supporting women overcoming addiction and homelessness. She volunteers at various local recovery based ministries in North Carolina\, Tennessee Oncology in Nashville\, and Meals on Wheels.  Jennifer Alvarado is more than a musician — she is a storyteller\, an advocate\, and proof that resilience and faith can carve out a space where none seemed to exist. She isn’t chasing fame or fortune. She’s chasing meaning\, moments\, and the chance to remind others that their voice\, their dreams\, and their stories matter.

SUMMARY:The Blue Plate Special – 3/5 – Cody Landress-Gibson / Will Wesley
DESCRIPTION:Cody Landress-Gibson will be performing! \nWill Wesley is a Country Rock and Americana artist. A storyteller whose sound blends a soulful edge with country rock energy into heartfelt storytelling. Born in Baker\, Louisiana\, Wesley was raised with a rebellious spirit and a love for music inspired by his father’s guitar. By age 15\, he was sneaking into bars to perform with a beat-up six-string and a fire that would soon define his music career. \nHe paved his path in the Baton Rouge blues scene\, performing and touring alongside with legendary figures. He served as Grady Champion’s Music Director for five years. His talent earned him two International Blues Challenge regional victories and a reputation as one of Louisiana’s fiercest young guitarists. \nBut Wesley’s journey took a turn when life’s hardships — including personal battles and deep loss — pushed him toward a new musical path. Drawing inspiration from artists like Hank Williams\, Marty Stuart\, Garth Brooks\, Jason Aldean\, and Eric Church\, he began merging his blues background with the modern energy of country rock and Americana. \nIn 2021\, Wesley released his breakthrough album\, “Both Sides Of The Tracks.” The record featured 17 original songs\, including “A New Kind of Blues” (feat. Kern Pratt)\, “Leah” (feat. Michael Cleveland)\, and “Attitude”\, which reached #1 on the Euro Academy of Country Music Charts in Milan\, Italy. The project marked his official crossover from blues prodigy to full-fledged country-rock and Americana artist. \nTragedy struck in January 2021\, when Wesley lost his brother Daniel Dale to a drug overdose — a loss that became the emotional core of his 2024 single “12 O’Clock in Texas\,” his most personal song to date. The single’s heartfelt storytelling and raw emotion struck a deep chord with fans around the world. \nWesley followed with “The Search” (2024) and his latest single\, “Bottom Of The Bottle” (October 2025) — a powerhouse track with a harder rock edge that’s rapidly gaining momentum and airplay. \nToday\, Wesley tours across the U.S.\, Europe\, and Southeast Asia\, performing everywhere from intimate listening rooms to international stages\, including the Switzerland International Country Music Hall of Fame and the Jackson\, Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. \nHe shared stages with many including Alabama\, RVSHVD\, Jason Boland & the Stragglers\, Redd Volkaert\, When In Rome\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, Scotty McCreery\, Hailey Whitters\, and shared international stages with Swiss Rockabilly Star – Florian Fox\, collaborating on Will’s singles\, “Wasted Again” and “Time’s Catching Up To Me.” \nIn recognition of his accomplishments\, he received seven nominations for his song\, “Ready To Ride” at the 2024 Josie Music Awards. In addition\, he received five nominations for his songs “12 O’Clock in Texas” and “The Search” at the 2025 Josie Music Awards. Both within Nashville\, Tennessee. \nDespite the road miles as a devoted Worldwide Touring Troubadour\, Wesley returns home to Louisiana in-between tours for hometown shows\, staying true to his roots and fans. Known for his humility and heart\, he continues to give back by performing at Veterans’ events and outreach programs — bringing the healing power of music to those who need it most. \n

SUMMARY:The WDVX Big Plate – 2/20 – The Garrett Boys
DESCRIPTION:Every family has its own unique history\, a timeline fleshed out by memorable characters\, milestone events\, and the stories passed on through the decades that bind it all together. For the Garrett Boys\, a family trio from Overton County in east Tennessee\, their history just happens to lend itself to some excellent Appalachian folk music. \nMade up of brothers Stephen and Russell Garrett\, and Stephen’s son Carter\, the Garrett Boys are rooted\, both musically and physically\, in 500 hilly\, wooded acres that have had a magnetic pull over their family for generations. The men refer to it simply as “The Land\,” and it’s the setting for nearly every one of the 11 songs on It Runs Deep\, the trio’s debut album. \n“About 200 years ago\, some Garrett boys came from North Carolina and settled in that area\,” says Stephen\, who plays acoustic guitar and sings lead in the band. “Some old records say that they acquired land between Mill Creek and Mitchell Creek\, and that’s the property that Russell and I grew up on. Carter will be the ninth generation to live on it.” \nBut while the land is specific to the Garrett Boys\, the album the group wrote about it is universal. Produced by Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle\, Lucinda Williams)\, It Runs Deep contains elements of bluegrass\, folk\, and country\, but refuses to play it safe. It nods to their varied influences\, from Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell to Chris Knight and Hank Williams Jr. \nWith It Runs Deep\, the Garrett Boys memorialize those family stories — for themselves\, for their descendants\, and now for fans of classic American folk music. \n“Our music is about the importance and depth of family and community\,” Stephen says. “It’s a mix of what we have been versus what we can become\, and how we can take the good from all that and build a future.”

SUMMARY:The WDVX Big Plate – 1/16 – Amelia Day
DESCRIPTION:Amelia Day is a musical jack-of-all-trades. Standing at the intersection of folk\, rock\, and pop\, Day blends heartfelt storytelling\, raw delivery\, and unforgettable melodies into music that feels both fresh and familiar — like rediscovering an old favorite. A self-described writer before anything else\, her perceptive lyricism extends far beyond her 23 years\, with lines reminiscent of songwriting greats like Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon. As the Spokesman-Review notes\, Day has a signature style that features “wordplay\, double-meanings and rhythmic variations\,” with themes ranging from journeying into adulthood to climate change. Many of Day’s songs are also shaped by her intimate relationships\, where her queerness and candor take center stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDay is proficient on guitar\, keys\, bass\, and drums\, often switching between instruments during her live performances. At other times\, she lets the music take over — stepping away from the instruments to simply sing and dance with mic in hand. She says she aims to “create an environment of complete presence and joy\, but also healthy catharsis of all the worst emotions.” As the Vanderbilt Hustler highlights\, her set is “energetic\, emotional and full of fun\, just like all of her music.” Fans often leave Day’s shows on a high\, blown away by her powerhouse vocals (drawing comparisons to Brandi Carlile\, Norah Jones\, Alanis Morissette\, and others)\, and charmed by the joy she exudes while onstage. \nAlready boasting over a million streams on a number of songs\, Amelia Day continues to prove herself as both a songwriter and performer\, emerging as a voice destined to resonate for years to come.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Big Plate – 1/9 – Anders Thomsen
DESCRIPTION:Purveyor of quality honky-tonk\, blues\, country and roots rock. \n\nAnders Thomsen has deep roots. This midwestern boy grew up on the music that makes America. The Twang of the Opry on a Saturday night\, the Rock n Roll on the stereos in the Chevys and the Fords and the Blues and Soul spilling out of the nightclubs he snuck into. He heard all that and made it his own. \nHe picked up the heartbreak and the joy of the blues\, and matched it with the lonesome\, lovelorn hillbilly waltz and powered it all with those rock and roll V-8s. \nHe got an early start\, playing in bars and nightclubs before he was old enough to drive\, sometimes even with a note from his mother.  He sang\, played guitar\, played bass and even played the washtub. Anything to get him on stage to learn the craft.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/23 – Dave Eggar & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Dave Eggar & Friends: \nOver the past two and a half decades\, Dave Eggar’s earned rock star status in pop music world as first-call cellist and string arranger for superstars like Coldplay\, Evanescence\, John Legend\, Lewis Capaldi and Bebe Rexha and Foreigner. Yet for the multi-talented veteran musician\, the piano has always been the ultimate place of solace since his childhood days as a classical prodigy. \nIn his youth\, those keys were a sacred space where he found a home immersed in the lyrical glories of Chopin ballades and solo pieces by Satie\, Gabriel Faure and Toru Takemitsu. Throughout his career\, even as the four-time Grammy nominee has amassed hundreds of string credits\, the piano compositions on his solo albums – from his 1998 debut Serenity to his prodigious latest release Dragonfly – reveal a truer artistry that comes alive in a space where he connects with people more deeply and emotionally. \nCo-written and produced\, like Eggar’s 2021 album Awakening\, by drummer\, percussionist and songwriter Chuck Palmer\, Dragonfly is a thematically expansive yet musically intimate collection which\, true to the title’s mythological implications\, finds Eggar exploring the concepts of metamorphosis\, self-realization and the insight of clear vision. It’s all with an eye towards helping us meet the great challenges of a post pandemic world\, rise above the darkness and discover exciting new possibilities. \nWhile most of the pianist’s previous solo albums bear titles reflecting the healing music space (including 2002’s Angelic Embrace)\, the symbolism of the Dragonfly – brilliantly embodied by the colorful\, intricate cover illustration and artwork – made perfect sense as a reflection of a hopeful embrace of a new era. In essence\, it’s a tribute as well to Gomeo\, a Native American philosopher and fan of Eggar’s music who always called the artist “Dragonflyboy” in reference to the combination of courage and fragility he observed in Eggar. Eggar in turn dedicates the graceful\, reflective title track to Gomeo. \n“The pandemic and resulting lockdown freed us from our usual distractions and made us all stop and think about the meaning of our lives\,” says Eggar\, who is releasing Dragonfly in the wake of the two 2023 Grammy nominations earned for his work with clarinetist Tasha Warren on the album Ourself Behind Ourself\, Concealed\, featuring compositions by Paquito D’Rivera and Pascal Le Boeuf. “I look at these realizations and the re-entry into new phases of life as a metamorphosis\, much like the one a dragonfly undergoes from larva to adult. As we re-enter society\, it begs the question: How can we do better and find the beauty within ourselves? \n“On Awakening\,” he adds\, “the songs were vehicles for me to think through and solve issues related to that difficult time. With Dragonfly\, they’re about being more courageous and enlivening. Now that we’re moving into the next chapter of our existence\, how do we strike out in the world? On a personal level\, the darkness where the album begins and ends reflects my working through pain\, looking metaphorically over these past few years as I’ve experienced the transformation from a darkness into a place of light.” \nMuch of the darkness Eggar refers to is rooted in his sorrow over the loss of many special people in his life over the past year. In the album’s credits\, he dedicates Dragonfly to the aforementioned Gomeo as well as Andrew\, Mark and Ronnie. Losing so many in such a short span inspired him to think about his many vectors as a musician. Following the stark\, elegant “Prelude\,” he taps into “The Darkness\,” a graceful hypnotic piece with classical overtones (and the added heartrending texture of his cello harmony) for Andrew\, a close friend who took his own life. \nThe equally soulful\, haunting tune “Sorrow Returns” is for “Ronnie” – a nickname for Rosalyn Freundlich\, a therapist who transformed his lie at an early age\, helping him from his teens through his early 30s. This included the later period of a troubled childhood\, which ran from the highs of being a child prodigy playing the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall to running away from home. “Ronnie was more than a therapist for me\,” he says. “She was also a very powerful philosopher. Her passing had a significant impact on the recording of Dragonfly.” \nComplementing the gorgeous\, introspective piano pieces – which include “Embark\,” “Encircled\,” “Soliloquy” and “Shards of Light” – are the stately\, dramatic and hopeful “Lullaby of Kingston” (a piano rendition of the title track from his 2010 album Kingston Morning) and two tracks Eggar performs with Bristol Lightning\, the Americana quartet he formed during the quarantine period with talented bluegrass musicians he met and vibed with upon his pandemic-era move from NYC to Bristol\, TN. The group’s Blake Collins (mandolin) and Phil Faconti (guitar) appear with Eggar on the uniquely experimental\, atmosphere-rich\, mood swinging “Memories of New York” and are joined by singer Ashton Davison (providing ethereal wordless vocals) on the trippy and tension filled\, densely percussive classical/bluegrass fusion jam “Road Trip.” \nAt first\, Eggar thought these two Bristol Lightning tracks were too much of a departure from the piano-centric flow of the rest of Dragonfly – but ultimately he loved how everything worked together to capture where he’s coming from in a meditative space while expanding his repertoire\, taking risks and tackling new adventures in his life. “You can go on a road trip to explore new possibilities and also remember New York as it was and find new life there\,” he says. “These songs relate all the possibilities that await us after a long time of struggle. Through all the meditation\, we can find a time for action.” \nThough it is the closing track\, the piano piece “Onwards” flows like an unfinished folk song\, promising more magic to come. Ending with such simplicity harkens back to “Appalachian Spring\,” an enduring work by famed composer Aaron Copland\, who in his later years lived in Eggar’s hometown of Croton-on-Hudson NY and was Eggar’s piano teacher when he was six. It is also a way of acknowledging the pianist’s mellower but still quite vibrant life now in Appalachia\, considered by some to be the birthplace of country music. \nWhile Eggar’s fascinating history as a prodigy usually takes precedence in his official biographies\, it’s the way music helped the Julliard trained musician cop with the struggles of that childhood that tell the deeper story of his evolving genius. In addition to being in great demand with jazz and pop music royalty (Michael Brecker\, David Foster\, Taylor Swift\, Tony Bennett\, Andrea Bocelli and Esperanza Spalding\, among scores of others)\, he has collaborated with the New York City Ballet\, the Jose Limon Company\, Attack Theatre\, Pendulum Aerial Arts\, Shen Wei Dance\, San Francisco Ballet and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. \nEggar has also appeared as a featured soloist with the Thailand Philharmonic\, The Sydney Symphony\, the Melbourne Symphony\, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Over the past few years\, he has collaborated on live events with yoga artist Christiane Sabo\, which allowed him to explore the idea of how emotion and meditation work in tandem. \n“I like the way the music on Dragonfly isn’t just about processing sorrow and loss in a meditative space\, but also opens up a journey from there into once again embracing the world with courage and confidence\,” says Eggar. “I am grateful for the many years I have been with Domo Records\, whose leadership always believed in my unique voice as an artist\, even when I wasn’t sure of myself. With each album\, it’s been wonderfully gratifying to see a substantial increase in people listening. With this little seed planted so long ago\, we’ve built a beautiful world of possibilities.”

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/22 – Dustin Sellers as Sad Bachelor / E.T.
DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, East Tennessee native Dustin Sellers debuted the alias “Sad Bachelor\,” an alter ego derived from a sorrowful past riddled with devastating loss and heartbreak\, and his redemption through perseverance. A life-shattering divorce launched Sellers into a spiraling journey of depression\, anxiety\, and isolation\, compounded by the trauma of back-to-back losses. The alter ego “Sad Bachelor” emerged as Sellers entered each new chapter of pain and despair\, unable to escape the glaring reminder of mortality. \nThe new album “Dustin Sellers as Sad Bachelor” tells his story of debilitating grief\, profound resilience\, and wearing survival as a badge of honor. Sellers is no longer “sad” or a “bachelor” but the alias serves as a catalyst for reflection on the triumph of surviving an era of emotional trauma\, and is a reminder of the healing power of music. With added support from Mishi Records for distribution through The Orchard and a strategic market strategy\, Dustin Sellers is actively growing streams and views\, and gaining fans throughout the U.S. and internationally. “Dustin Sellers as Sad Bachelor” is charting airplay on independent and college radio through Tinderbox for exposure in the U.S. market. \nSellers crafts a captivating sonic tapestry that grips listeners by their emotions and transports them to his inner world. Drawing influence from 90s rock giants like Foo Fighters and Superdrag\, alongside timeless acts like The Beatles\, he adeptly weaves heartfelt stories of love\, grief\, and introspection into his music. With soaring vocals nostalgic of poetic powerhouses like Chris Cornell and John Lennon\, Sellers layers authenticity and originality on top of songwriting prowess and seasoned musicianship. \nA versatile multi-instrumentalist\, Sellers expertly orchestrates guitar\, harmonica\, keys\, brass\, and a driving rhythm section to create a dynamic soundscape that shifts seamlessly between Americana\, Indie Rock\, and Folk. \n \nE.T. is a Singer/Songwriter from Chattanooga\, TN.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/20 – Eli Fox / Kurt Lee Wheeler
DESCRIPTION:Eli Fox is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Knoxville\, Tennessee\, now living in Nashville\, Tennessee. He was inspired early on by the sound of the five-string banjo and the plainspoken poetry of Woody Guthrie. Drawing from artists like Michael Hurley\, Bob Dylan\, Darrell Scott\, and James McMurtry\, he has carved out a songwriting voice that is honest\, wry\, and rooted in tradition. \nShortly before starting high school\, Eli started the Knoxville\, TN based roots band Subtle Clutch. As teenagers they busked the streets of Knoxville\, gathering lots of local attention through local gigs and their memorable all day long busking sets. They went on to play gigs constantly all over town and later secured gigs such as the Rhythm N Blooms festival and an opening slot for the Dirty Guv’nahs. The band disbanded around 2015/2016 as each member pursued different opportunities. Eli moved to Nashville\, TN and has lived there since 2018. \nAt just 26\, Eli has released two full-length albums\, an EP\, and a string of recent singles. In 2025\, he began recording a new full-length album of original material\, slated for release later this year. His single “A Pretty Woman’s Like a Rainbow Trout” has garnered attention from GemsOnVHS\, DittyTV\, and a growing community of listeners drawn to his offbeat charm and lyrical depth. \nAs a solo artist\, Eli has performed at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival\, Bristol Rhythm & Roots\, Musicians Corner\, The Bijou Theatre\, and eTown Hall. He has opened for artists including Darrell Scott\, Sam Bush\, Emily Ann Roberts\, and Boy Named Banjo. In 2024\, he joined Boy Named Banjo on tour as a utility player\, bringing pedal steel\, fiddle\, and guitar to stages across the country from Colorado to New York City and everywhere in between. \nWith a head full of songs and a drive to connect\, Eli Fox continues to follow the road seeking out meaning\, music\, and kindred spirits along the way. \n \nKurt Lee Wheeler is a Cherokee county\, Georgia-based singer/songwriter that crafts raw\, vulnerable portrayals of life in the American Southeast. He is a United Stated Airforce Veteran. His musical expressions range from country\, to bluegrass\, to rock. You can catch Kurt playing solo\, duo\, trio and with his band The Lathemtown Poet’s Society. Regardless of the musical iteration the songs and stories cut to the emotional core.\nBorn and raised in Lathemtown\, Georgia the son of a cattleman and homemaker\, Wheeler taught himself to play guitar and soon began recording his own songs reel to reel\, then to cassettes\, then to four track-tape whenever he could catch a break from helping with the cattle and playing sports. In the mid 80s\, he enlisted in the Air Force and along with his fellow airmen formed Hint of Insurgence\, a band influenced by the burgeoning sounds of college radio and the classic rock he cut his teeth on growing up. \nIn1992\, he released his first album Bama Motel\, which included new\, folk-tinged originals and rock-oriented songs. Shortly after its release\, Kurt began teaching school and took an indefinite hiatus from music to focus on raising a family. However in the mid 2010s\, Kurt began playing the North Georgia singer/songwriter scene and writing music again\, taking on a more stripped down acoustic sound and approaching it with the same ethos as teaching: to help create positive change in others’ lives. \n \n

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/18 – Hope MacGregor / King Pall
DESCRIPTION:Hope MacGregor’s first love was music. If you’d have run across her grandmother in the grocery store\, she would have told you that Hope could sing the entirety of The Sound of Music before she could speak a full sentence. Hope began writing her own material at fifteen and playing with a small band of friends in her corn-fed\, midwestern hometown. She tried to convince her parents to let her drop out of high school to head to Nashville\, but their collective wisdom forbade it.\nAnd then\, in 2007\, the Army came calling. Hope answered. She reported to the United States Military Academy to join the class of 2011. She branched aviation and reported to flight school upon graduation. Then\, in October 2012\, Hope pinned on her wings as an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter pilot. \nHope reported to Ft. Campbell\, where she served with the 101st Airborne Division. She deployed as a Scout Helicopter platoon leader to Bagram\, Afghanistan. Upon returning\, she headed east to Ft. Liberty. Then\, after eight years of active duty service\, Hope decided it was time to move on. \nNot entirely sure what to do next\, she found herself enrolled in law school. Two weeks into her second year\, and just a handful of months into the pandemic\, her ex-husband moved out. \nTo help pack up and move on\, Hope’s dad made the trek out to North Carolina. While cleaning out a closet of her soon-to-be-ex-husband’s belongings\, they ran across her old guitar from her days at West Point. That Guild guitar had been cracked and glued back together\, been dragged along on several field training exercises . . . and it had been packed away for far\, far too long. Her dad asked how long it had been since she played. Thinking back\, Hope realized it had been years since she hummed a tune\, much less strummed a six string. As any good dad would\, Hope’s father told her it was probably time to try. \nWhat started out as a way to survive such a bleak season became a rekindled old flame. The more Hope played and wrote and sang\, the more she healed. And the more she healed the more she sang and wrote and played. In the summer of 2022 she released an EP that she produced in the bonus room over her garage. \nUpon graduating law school\, Hope moved to Jackson\, Tennessee. There\, she found a vibrant local music scene with talented musicians and a town full of music lovers. With a band in tow\, Hope and the team hit the studio to record Hope’s first full-length album in 2023: the Matriarch.\nThat album opened doors from the Carolinas to Colorado\, which Hope has been walking through with great gratitude. \nWith more to say and more songs to sing\, MacGregor hit the studio again with twelve new songs in tow. August of 2025 she released her second full-length studio album: Sloppy Seconds. In true Hope fashion\, the album is full of humor\, wit\, honesty\, and heartbreak. \nThe road back to music has been a bumpy one. But since cracking open that Guild’s case a few years ago\, Hope’s guitar collection – and song collection – has grown. You can find her performing most weekends in Jackson\, Memphis\, Nashville\, or back in central Illinois. And if you really want to get to know Hope\, just ask her about her beloved Labrador\, Lucy. \n \nMusician\, singer/songwriter and producer Bryan Ciliberto has been writing and recording original music under the moniker Pall of a Past World since roughly 2012. The project has gained a strong following on Soundcloud\, Youtube and other music related sites. Until now the music has remained a recording only project. Bryan has put together a talented and exciting group of musicians under the name “King Pall” in order to bring this music to the live stage. The players are Bryan Ciliberto on guitar and vocals\, Rich Adlin on lead guitar\, vocals\, Andy Stewart on bass & vocals\, Neil Coleman on keyboards and Jay Miller on drums and percussion.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/15 – Quinn O’Donnell / Jordan Allen
DESCRIPTION:Quinn O’Donnell is known across the Nashville area for her raw and emotional performances. Her particular blend of alternative rock (Death Cab For Cutie\, The Cranberries) with shoegaze musicality (Cigarettes After Sex\, Phoebe Bridgers) gives her a timeless\, yet unique sound with a grunge edge. Through her touring and local DIY shows\, Quinn O’Donnell has made her mark in venues across the Nashville area and beyond. \n \nHaving spent over half of his life dedicated to inhabiting the craft of good songwriting\, Jordan Allen is an artist who knows the stitching it takes to make a well-tailored song. From his time spent on the Bluebird Café’s Writer’s Night roster from 2017 to 2020\, to the years spent as the frontman for Jordan Allen & The Bellwethers from 2013 to 2024 where he toured regularly across 10 states and released 5 studio albums\, Allen has put in the time it takes to craft stories—whether his own or inhabiting someone else’s—in a way that weaves together melodic hooks with the raw materials of life. \nThe melodic stories that Allen crafts don’t stop at their release date\, but have caught the attention of a wide audience and in 2016\, during Allen’s tenure fronting The Bellwethers\, their song “The Wanderer” took home the overall winner at The Richard Leigh Songwriters Festival song contest. Not only that\, Allen also made his national television debut on Season 27 of The Voice\, where he worked with John Legend as his coach. \nWith influences ranging from The Beatles to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Don Williams\, Jordan Allen marries the grit of the Appalachian Mountains with the sweet honey of soulful southern songwriting. His debut single released February 12th \, 2025.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/13 – Teni Rane
DESCRIPTION:Inside of Teni Rane’s songs\, you’ll likely encounter Appalachian songbirds\, white oaks\, and wildflower fields. These are just some of the earthly delights that surround her home in Chattanooga and dance through her music. Her debut album\, Goldenrod (2024)\, pays tribute to her favorite native plant’s “charismatic yellow self” and highlights the ways we too can sway through the shoulder seasons of our own lives. As a songmaker\, Rane likes to wade in the undertow\, through the deeper currents of loneliness and longing that churn below the surface of our days. Glide Magazine raves that she’s an “up-and-coming Americana winner along the lines of Sierra Ferrell.” \nRane grew up in the American South\, disconnected from her mother’s Armenian culture\, heritage\, and language. As she sings\, “I don’t know which way to turn or how to be\, there’s too much debris when identities collide.” Often feeling caught between worlds – neither fully Armenian nor totally at ease in Southern American culture – music became a compelling avenue to help make sense of her unique identity. It is no small wonder that her forthcoming album\, Never Turning Back\, orbits themes of kinship\, homesickness\, and the precarity of our human-made environments. Rane is a cartographer of the heart – capturing the many ways it breaks and breaks us open. An intense (over)thinker\, her songs ask questions about what makes a home and how we discover our place in the world. The album ranges from geographical adventure narratives like “Leaving You Behind” and “Arkansas” to tracks like “As I Walk Home\,” written in an existential haze at 2am about our imbalanced world. \nCat-like\, Rane lives many lives. In addition to making music\, she played semi-pro soccer on Gotland Island in the Baltic Sea; earned a Bachelors in chemical engineering; and teaches yoga and mindfulness. As she tracks the wooden acres and water lines around her\, Rane is learning how to turn inward and listen to her own artistic calling. After an inner reckoning\, she upended her carefully constructed corporate life and charted a new course into music and mindfulness – focusing on writing and recording songs that capture the high joys and deep sorrows of the human experience. Her focus-shift to songcrafting didn’t go unnoticed. Americana Highways described her first EP\, Heart in Tennessee (2020)\, as “the mesmerizing sound of a singular talent.” A 2022 residency at Sweden’s Kneippbyn Resort Visby yielded four singles\, including “Meet Me in Stockholm\,” a bilingual plea from a homesick Rane to her friend to help fill solitary hours. \nGoldenrod (2024) climbed to number 13 on the Folk Radio Charts and garnered critical praise. The album features Grammy-nominees Dave Eggar (cello\, piano) and Phil Faconti (guitars\, ukulele)\, alongside previous collaborator Roger Gustafsson (bass\, steel guitar). Her partner\, Jonathan Shumaker\, is also featured on bass. Rane has toured nationally at venues like the Falcon Theater (Newport\, KY)\, University of Arkansas (Fayetteville\, AR) and the Lyric Theater (Lexington\, KY). She also has a fondness for playing house concerts\, listening rooms and botanical gardens (her favorite). After spells in Arkansas\, Sweden\, and Northeast Tennessee\, she’s returned to her roots – the county where she was raised\, where the city meets the country along the Tennessee River in Chattanooga\, TN.

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/6 – 2 groups of UT Appalachian Strings
DESCRIPTION:About UT Appalachian Strings\nUT musicology faculty and local Knoxville musician\, Sean McCollough\, created the first-ever UT Appalachian string-band ensemble in the spring semester of 2022. By spring of 2023\, one student band had grown into two. The two current bands play mostly bluegrass – though one of them includes some modern Americana songs in their repertory. Sean’s hope is that there may be enough interest in the future to also have an old-time band\, an Americana band and perhaps even a country band. If you are a UT student and are interested in joining one of the bands\, email Sean at sean@utk.edu. \n

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special – 12/4 – Maddye Trew Band
DESCRIPTION:It’s not enough to climb the ladder of success for Memphis-born Maddye Trew–she wants to share each rung with others on the way up. Armed with a degree in Commercial Music from Belmont University and a “country-as-cornbread” charm\, Trew splits her time between chasing her own career and advocating for others from her chosen musical family as the co-host of Kickin’ Kountry 101’s weekly Breakin’ Indies Country Countdown syndicated on iHeart digital and the McMahon on Keys podcast. \nTrew’s own talent led her to her first appearance on a national broadcast stage as a “golden ticket” winner on American Idol at the age of 17. While still a newcomer to Nashville’s musical trenches\, Trew has been a featured guest on the nationally syndicated Jimmy Bowen & Friends\, had her music featured on CMT\, made her songwriter debut at The Bluebird Cafe\, opened for Big & Rich\, performed with Lee Greenwood\, and released several singles with plans to release her debut EP\, Here Goes Nothin’\, later this year.
