DESCRIPTION:Ray Duncan is a Nashville based independent artist. Born in Cambria\, California\, Ray has been performing all her life. Playing her first shows at only 13 years old\, by 16 she had formed the duo Ranchers for Peace with her father\, songwriter Charles Duncan. In 2019 Ray moved to Nashville to find new inroads for her career\, where she now works as a background singer and freelance composer\, in addition to performing as a solo artist. Ray also co-hosts podcast “Book of Jude\,” which is a series of interviews with her mother\, hit songwriter Jude Johnstone\, that tells the story of Johnstone’s career in the music business. \nSince moving to Nashville\, Ray has recorded and released several projects\, including her 2022 single “Don’t Let It Get To You\,” co-written with Johnstone and featuring performances from legendary musicians such as drummer Vinnie Colaiuta\, guitarist David Keary\, and bass player Nick Scott. \nAfter 2 crowd funding campaigns\, Ray is now preparing for the 2025 release of her long anticipated Laundromat EP\, recorded at Starbird Sound with producer Mike Fahey (Phish\, Chris Stapleton). \n \nFrom sharing the stage with superstar\, Brett Eldredge\, as well as acclaimed performances in casinos\, clubs\, and festivals to having original songs featured in movies and appearing on TV and radio shows\, Brandon Maddox\, has quickly established himself as one of Country Music’s rising stars. He was named\, “Monster Truck Artist of the Year” and was both a Josie Award recipient in 2017 for his hit single “Dixie Chaser” as well as the winner of “Song of the Year” in 2019 for his song “Drive Me to Drink.” \nBrandon’s dad schooled him in classic rock\, so it was only natural that when the youngster picked up the guitar and taught himself to play\, he used a Beatle’s songbook. While teaching himself\, he noticed a common thread among the songs—the songs were written by actual members of The Beatles. Brandon wrote his first song at the tender age of 11 and now has an original catalog of over a thousand songs\, a few of which have won awards. DESCRIPTION:The Tidalwave Road Bluegrass Band: \nBEN PARKER\nBanjo\, Vocals\nBenjamin Russell Parker grew up in Williamsburg and McKee\, Kentucky and still makes his home in Williamsburg today. \nBen started playing music at age 19\, being heavily influenced by Earl Scruggs\, Ralph Stanley and Dave Evans. As a multi-instrumentalist\, Ben plays Banjo\, Guitar and Fiddle. \nBefore Tidalwave Road was born\, he was a proud member of the ‘Colonel’ Larry Fuller Band. Fuller was a 40-year veteran musician and beloved Kentucky Colonel who was adored far and wide by his fans and sadly passed in 2007. \nAs a founding member of Tidalwave Road\, Ben Parker brings his unique Banjo and vocal stylings to the band along with his good humor. He is a professional Barber by day and is happily married to his lovely wife Trish\, with whom he has two children\, Cole and Landenn. \nBen also loves to kayak\, ride ATV’s\, and try to build fiddles. \nCARLIE PARKER\nMandolin\, Vocals\nCarlie Parker grew up on Tidal Wave Road in Rockholds\, Kentucky and still makes his home in Rockholds today.\nCarlie started playing music at age 8\, and credits his Grandparent and his Uncle Nick as his biggest influences. As a multi-instrumentalist\, Carlie plays Mandolin and Guitar.\nAs a founding member of Tidalwave Road\, and kin to Ben\, Carlie brings his special family blend of harmony to the band. He is a professional bus driver and mower by day and is happily married to his best friend\, with whom he has one son that he is currently teaching how to play music. \nDANIEL PARKER\nBass\nDaniel Parker grew up in Corbin\, Kentucky and still makes his home in Corbin today. \nDaniel started playing music later in life at age 31\, and enjoys a wide range of music from Metallica to John Prine. His favorite all-time Bluegrass artist is Tim O’Brien. Daniel is the backbone to the hard-driving Tidalwave sound with his rock solid bass skills. \nHe manufactures custom cutting tools by day and enjoys drawing and spending time with the love of his life and their poodle that sleeps between them every night. \nROBERT SULFRIDGE\nGuitar\nRobert Sulfridge grew up in Whitley County\, Kentucky and makes his home in Williamsburg\, Kentucky today.\nRobert started playing music at 6 years old\, and was heavily influenced by a diverse list of players including Tony Rice\, Wyatt Rice\, Cody Kilby\, Stevie Ray Vaughn\, Carlos Santana\, BB King and Mike Riddle. He is a multi-instrumentalist\, fluent in Guitar\, Mandolin and Piano. Robert is also the sound technician for the band\, their annual bluegrass festival\, and other events. His open mind and creative vision lend a hand in pushing the boundaries of traditional bluegrass for the band on song selection for recording and stage.\nBy day\, Robert is Vice President of Die Casting Company and also loves camping\, attending live music events\, ‘Mom & Pop’ coffee shops\, all with his wife and best friend\, Jessica. Robert and Jessica have two ‘fur-children\,’ Moose\, a Saint Bernard\, and Max\, a Bernese Mountain Dog.

The Knoxville\, TN-based artist’s music has been featured in MTV’s “Siesta Key\,” Disney+ “Big Shot\,” The CW’s “Nancy Drew” and retail and dining spaces around the world. \nThe laid back artist’s honeyed vocals and indie pop-rock hit that sweet spot between major and minor tonalities with a pan-genre appeal. Pristine vocals\, breezy pop grooves\, big hooks\, and soaring melodies contribute to her pop allure and soulful\, guitar-driven alt-rock sensibility. \nIn a short period of time\, the young artist has garnered prime accolades. She has opened for Joy Oladokun\, performed at Rhythm N’ Blooms Music Festival with the likes of Young the Giant\, Dave Barnes\, Gogol Bordello\, Birds of Chicago\, and others; Sunset on Central; Dogwood Arts Festival; the Waynestock Festival; Women in Jazz Jam Festival; and live on-air at WUTK 90.3 FM\, WDVX 89.9 FM\, and WOZO 103.9 FM\, among others. DESCRIPTION:Roman Reese is a singer/songwriter out of Knoxville\, TN. Moonlighting as an attorney\, music is his true passion. He’s been writing songs and singing from barstools since he was 15. Before setting up shop in East Tennessee\, Reese served as an officer in the U.S. Army\, and much of his music involves his time in the service. The rest is devoted to standard barroom fare. His backing band\, The Cardinal Sins\, includes two other local lawyers\, Michael Davis (vocals\, guitar) and Stirling Walsh (bass)\, as well as honorary barrister Nathan Carter (drums). \n \nJames Morris will be joining us as well.

DESCRIPTION:TUNE JUNKIE WEEKEND\nFeb 7th\, 8th & 9th 2025\nThis year\, the second weekend of February is the Tune Junkie Weekend!\nA weekend of community and Traditional Irish Music. There are workshops for musicians who want to know more about Traditional Irish Music\, first hand. And the Ceili Dance and Showcase concert for everyone to enjoy. \nThe event starts Friday night with a Ceili Dance\, Irish session\, open house\, and potluck dinner. People can register for the weekend\, buy tickets for the Saturday night concert and hear some great music. Feel free to bring a dish to share!\nSaturday is the big day and consists of workshop sessions teaching Irish Whistle\, Fiddle\, Guitar\, Bodhran\, Story telling and more! There is also a slow session to help teach tunes and introduce players to the Irish session community.\nThe big finale is Saturday night when musicians from all over the Southeast and East Coast come together for a fantastic show of Irish tunes and songs! But wait there’s more!!!! Once the concert ends all of the weekends participants gather for one last session and play til……well\, until they are done.\nBut wait…..there’s even more!!!! Sunday\, workshop participants are invited to a brunch and farewell session at Boyd’s Jig and Reel Pub. Only $15 for buffet brunch and coffee\, drink specials are extra. Pretty Sweet!! This weekend is about friends\, the ones we know and those we are about to meet. \n

SUMMARY:The WDVX Blue Plate Special - 2/8 - Tai Shan
DESCRIPTION:Tai Shan is an Americana songwriter whose music has been featured in Billboard Magazine\, American Songwriter\, Americana UK\, and on NPR. Based out of Nashville\, her songwriting focuses on positive messages. Her song\, “Burn it Down” celebrates 100 years since the “right to vote” and was featured in Billboard Magazine. A magna cum laude graduate of Cornish College of the Arts\, Tai Shan and her husband Austin who beatboxes and plays trumpet as the other half of the group toured the United States\, Mexico\, and Canada\, performed for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation\, and at the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville. \nAn Arts- trained classical and jazz composer\, Tai is known for her incredible versatility\, in both music and subject matter. Though she has plenty of her own life stories to draw from—including singing for the Pope\, watching all of her belongings ignite in a house fire\, playing a music tour through Yellowstone National Park\, and teaching music at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (Mo-Pop)\, Dusty Strings\, and Seattle Girls School—Tai prefers to mine literature. She’s penned over 50 songs\, in collaboration with Bushwick Book Club\, that give musical voice to literary characters and immerse the audience in the story\, the same way a novel does. In 2016\, Tai was awarded a Jack Straw Cultural Center artist recording grant to complete her third album\, Meet in the Middle.
